I think it must be on some level, a frightening thing to be in the minority- alienating.

being in the entertainment industry is not a constitutional right but of a privilege, (the people) (the fans) pay big money to be entertained, they don't pay so million dollar players can voice their views unless the platform is for that one reason to hear the entertainers opinion.

the football entertainment platform isn't to express politics, they are getting payed to entertain by playing football for the people who are interested in being entertained by football, once the player who is getting payed to entertain leaves a stadium they can voice all they want it's a free country. as a matter of fact they can quite their high paying entertainment gig and go and stand up for what they believe, yea that would not happened they love their big houses and fancy cars,

ALL entertainment is built upon the obsession and sometimes addictions of people that what to be entertained.

i think it's time to let these entertainers know who really is allowing them to make huge contracts and big money, it's the fans not a president or whatever but the fans without fans there would be no big pay days and huge contracts. And because our country is built upon freedom, that alone allows the entertainment industry to thrive on exploiting people that need to be entertain.

entertainment industries feeds off of people who are obsessed with it, A entertainment only thrives if people are willing to pay to see it or purchase its products.
So someone standing up for what they believe in deters people from coming to the games and paying money for entertainment?
answer:no
So long as people like football there will be football what the players do belief wise doesn't change this, granted I don't agree with their reason, but even so a few things a person does or multiple people do belief wise, overall doesn't change that so long as there is demand for football there will be football, granted that they probably should consider acquiring licenses for protest, but other than that there is nothing unconstitutional about protesting especially in a non violent way, honestly I don't see this tearing any branch of football down,it's a business and sport, just like any business there are divisions on beliefs and choices, they don't have to quit their job to protest necessarily,a protest can be a simple boycott like with the anthem,is it bothersome to some, yes but it's nothing that hasn't been done before even "entertainers" can protest something even while in the industry, especially the entertainment industry.
I mean seriously if some celebrity was just fired or up and left for something as simple as boycotting an anthem, people would notice and most likely fight for the person to come back,so leaving the profession in order to protest is not likely, because the industry would come under scrutiny.

Judges, police officers, and judges at dog shows have written laws and rules to uphold,

FULL STOP. do all judges uphold the law today or do they try to make laws on the fly? ps..watch the news for the answer to this one

are police officers making objective decisions or they making decisons in the moment based on the criteria they are presented with in any given situation" ... ps watch the news for the answer to this one

LOL on the dog show judges. as a one time breeder and exhibitor, let me tell you...it ain't objective.

we as citizens don't really have a law book, on which to objectively base our opinions.

SAY WHAT? (said in that high pitched squeaky voice we have come to associate with incredulity in sitcoms) we sure do know when we break any law. we sure do know right from wrong. we don't need a book...but we do need enforcers...enter the police.

I suppose Christians should think about loving one's neighbor as oneself and imagining what life is like as a minority.

WHY? wouldn't following Jesus simply take care of all of that to begin with. wait...Christians ARE a minority! there yah go

I think white people might feel oppressed if we were the minority.

WHITE PEOPLE ARE A MINORITY. google it and start reading

I liked Alan Paton's Cry the Beloved Country about apartheid in South Africa and how the whites were in the minority and fearful. I read it in high school and it made me rethink some of the things I had been taught about race.

NOW READ ABOUT SOUTH AFRICA AND RHODESIA BACK IN THE DAY BEFORE THEY DISINTEGRATED. you SHOULD be fearful if you are white OR black in Africa. do you know anything about the history of Africa? did you know that Africans sold other Africans into slavery? do you understand the ongoing genocide of black against black in Africa? your fanciful response is a literary lack of history

I think it must be on some level, a frightening thing to be in the minority- alienating.

pinch yourself. you are dreaming. LOL!
I have always been a dreamer, so that is nothing new.

I realize there are corrupt police officers, judges, and dog show judges. BUT they all have written sets of criteria they are supposed to uphold.

Yes, citizens are to obey laws, but our opinions are not yet legalized. I am sure there are multitudinous opinions about any topic.

I meant that we are Christians, and should imagine how it might feel to be marginalized, so try very hard not to marginalize other people.

I did not know white people are the minority. This might explain why there is a recent uptick in neonazi behaviors. This sort of thing is motivated by fear, I do believe. Paton’s book was about fear, and how both groups in South Africa were afraid of each other. It is a great book, and beautiful, if you’ve never read it.

I do not know much about African history, but Paton was an Afrikaaner, and knew what he was writing. Apartheid was evil and created to control the diamond trade. A truly evil system.

Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream, that people would be judged on the contents of their characters rather than the colors of their skins. So, if I am dreaming, I am in very good company.

I really do not make those kind of comparisons.

well, maybe when you get a year or two under the belt, we can have another pow wow. a little history would also serve well

check out what the Bible has to say about fear...and then compare it to your observations above.

that's your homework should you choose to do it

truly must be off to put out the doggies and get coffee ready for tomorrow am cause I sure want to have some ready when I get up

I must confess to having the song “The Rainbow Connection” in my head when I wrote my post. “Have you been half asleep? And have you heard voices? I’ve heard them calling my name. Could they be the sweet sounds that lure the young sailors? I think they’re one and the same. It’s something I’m supposed to be. One day we’ll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers, and me.”

I doubt two years would improve my debating skills.

The Bible says that perfect love casts out fear, and this is beautifully demonstrated in Paton’s book. The characters love each other at the end, and are no longer afraid.

I confess that much of my history comes from novels.

I did not mean to impugn you, but sometimes it is difficult to ascertain what a poster’s world view is based on his posts.

For the life of me, I can not figure out why Lennon wrote “imagine there’s no Heaven” instead of “imagine there’s no Hell”. It would be a good song except for that line.

Good Night, and take good care of your dogs. :)

steph curry just proved to be the ultimate hypocrite - he and his team were invited to the white house. they had a wide open opportunity to speak to the person they disagree with . they could have spoke to the president IN PERSON. but, while talking about mr. trump dividing people, they just drove the wedge deeper.
