I haven't watched the video, but I am familiar with Dr. Moody. He stumbled upon the afterlife stuff because he was a medical doctor and some of his patients told him about their near death experiences so he started asking other patients if they had that kind of experience after dying on the operating table and was surprised that many said yes, so he began looking deeper into how widespread the phenomena was and what similarities/commonalities they might have if any. He is the one who coined the phrase "near death experience".
