This whole thread just emphasizes part of the problem... and I'm guilty of it as well...
We see racial issues from our own perspectives, and experiences... much like my wife's experiences in the school she attended.
We should fight the urge to assume the rest of the country is the same as our neighborhood.
In some parts of the country, if you check the "welfare rolls", you'll see a majority of whites. In other parts, it will be blacks, or Hispanics... .

While this does not indicate "goodness" or "badness" of a person, it can possibly help explain why some people view racial issues the way they do.
The population in the US is approximately 61% "white", and about 12% black, and 18% Hispanic... and the welfare distribution is about 17% white, about 40% black, and 21% Hispanic. There is actually a higher percentage of Asians on welfare than whites, which really surprises me. You almost never hear any complaints about Asians on welfare.
So, if 12% of the population make up 40% of the welfare rolls, that can (and obviously does) cause many whites to resent the claims of racial bias and discrimination.
Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to justify ANY racial bias, from either blacks, or whites.... I'm simply looking at facts.
I've also heard of other statistics involving percentages of arrests, and sentences handed down from judges that indicate a bias against blacks in the courts.
I have personally witnessed discrimination in the way black people are treated by whites... quite often when I was younger, back in the 70's, but much less now... almost never.
If you grow up seeing this type of systemic prejudice, it has to affect your world view.
The only solution I can see for racial divide, is, of course, Jesus. If we live our lives the way Jesus did, racial walls will fall.
