if anyone is interested, I came across an interesting program today

called "White Privilege"

you can find it on One America News Network and it's not what you might think from the title

now if you are convinced that black people need to stamp out white people and Trump is an ogre, then do not watch it cause you will be 10 times more angry than you are right now

if however, you actually try to be fair minded and listen to BOTH sides, then watch it if you can find it in your local cable service

a spoiler alert: black people will be telling black people to get their act together and quit blaming the white folks

interesting statistics (by that I mean not slanted and doctored by the fake news media) will be introduced and you may be called on to alter how you think, even if just a little

worth watching

Who enters beware: liberal logic
Dante Alighieri, in his Divine Comedy, actually wrote: "All hope abandon ye who enter here". ... It's bad here, but not THAT bad... yet.

Her name is in pink... I think that makes her a white woman.

This whole thread just emphasizes part of the problem... and I'm guilty of it as well...

We see racial issues from our own perspectives, and experiences... much like my wife's experiences in the school she attended.

We should fight the urge to assume the rest of the country is the same as our neighborhood.

In some parts of the country, if you check the "welfare rolls", you'll see a majority of whites. In other parts, it will be blacks, or Hispanics... .

Here is a link to an article put out by the department of Commerce, that lists the percentage of welfare recipients by ethnicity.

Welfare Statistics and Demographics – Statistic Brain
H
While this does not indicate "goodness" or "badness" of a person, it can possibly help explain why some people view racial issues the way they do.

The population in the US is approximately 61% "white", and about 12% black, and 18% Hispanic... and the welfare distribution is about 17% white, about 40% black, and 21% Hispanic. There is actually a higher percentage of Asians on welfare than whites, which really surprises me. You almost never hear any complaints about Asians on welfare.

So, if 12% of the population make up 40% of the welfare rolls, that can (and obviously does) cause many whites to resent the claims of racial bias and discrimination.

Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to justify ANY racial bias, from either blacks, or whites.... I'm simply looking at facts.

I've also heard of other statistics involving percentages of arrests, and sentences handed down from judges that indicate a bias against blacks in the courts.

I have personally witnessed discrimination in the way black people are treated by whites... quite often when I was younger, back in the 70's, but much less now... almost never.

If you grow up seeing this type of systemic prejudice, it has to affect your world view.

The only solution I can see for racial divide, is, of course, Jesus. If we live our lives the way Jesus did, racial walls will fall.
We were on Welfare for about 10 months once. No embarrassment there because it saved our lives.

One other statistic I wish they added to the list though -- the number of people who are disabled and on Welfare.

I noticed two groups of people waiting for their appointments along with us that day -- immigrants and disabled. And to be honest, hard to tell if someone is disabled half the time. BUT Welfare is a security net for those who can't work anymore, but as of yet, have not been approved by Social Security.

The frightening part is it never even dawned on me that I could try Welfare until the 11th hour. I grew up and lived with the assumption, "never going on Welfare," so I think God dinked the thought in my brain that day, when all other plans failed.

This is one of the problems with discussing topics like this..... too many people (not pointing at you, Lynn, just in general) want to make it black and white (figuratively, not racially) If you are angry about abuses of welfare, you are labeled as being "against" welfare. If you talk about how welfare is good, you are labeled as being in favor of ALL welfare, including the known welfare fraud.

I'm not against welfare. I AM against letting welfare become a way of life to the point that kids grow up thinking that is the way to live... to let the government support you all your life.

I'm not brilliant. I'm average. That's what most people do.

Beautiful irony is all of you post what right in your eyes and attack whoever is different..

Some of you need to take your critique to others and work on bettering yourself.
Thank you for this.

I have posted facts from government agencies, videos and on and on. Doesn't matter people believe what they will. It's so easy to shout from your keyboard when you are not in the heart of things or trying to help in the community. It's always the same ones. It's not about being PC, how about treating people like human beings with common courtesy and respect. Especially those who have done nothing to you.

Instead of hurling names and trying to slyly insult as though the person isn't intelligent enough to know that they have been insulted. You can't even talk about simple everyday things around here without getting called a Liberal, snowflake or a Lefty or some other name. I've seen people being called that over something trivial, I mean Really? They may be ordinary words but it's the condecending way in which it is delivered.

Could I have said some things differently? Of course.

Where I live young white people are dying and ovedosing from herion and opioid abuse by a concerning number. Some of them pregnant, a few have abandon their babies, one left their baby on the beach. A garbage man found one whimpering in a garbage can.

I've seen that it isn't just here but in many other states but I don't sit behind my keyboard talking trash to or about white people and running into threads to back up my buddies and to like their posts. I'm out there trying to help and to tell them about a risen Savior and anyone else that I can help along the way.

I know some of you think that you have it all figured out and you know it all and YOUR truth is absolute. Call it whining or whatever you want but we ALL need to pray about a better way to do things and say things, ALL of us.

I think there is a lot of truth to the idea that we can only change our world one person at a time. MOST of us don't have the ability, or the opportunity to make an "I have a dream" speech to thousands of people...

What we CAN do, like HoneyDew implied, is treat every person we come in contact with as a child of God. We need to see them as individuals, not as a part of a group of "them"...

As I have mentioned before, I have to seriously change my way of thinking, to seeing a non-English speaking Hispanic person as a person, instead as just another of the group of illegal aliens... that is a difficult thing to do, as we are indoctrinated daily to group people into categories, instead of seeing them as individual people.

Blacks, whites, illegals, Republicans, Democrats, rich folks, welfare folks... everyone pigeon-holed into a group of some kind.

Jesus didn't see groups.... he saw people....

I cannot understand how a person can vote Democrat as a Christian. My husband use to be Democrat and when I explained that the far left has taken over the party and some of the things that they espouse he changed his mind and is now Rep. Now that doesn't mean Repubs are perfect by any stretch and they are going farther left minute by minute. But the Dems lost my total respect when they booed God at their convention and then backed Hillary as a candidate, among other things.I have friends that vote Dem,hey I have a friend that is a Dem senator and I still can't understand why he's a Dem and a Christian. It boggles my mind and no one yet has been able to answer this question for me. And I certainly will never understand why blacks vote Dem. None of it makes sense.

Its a pity for the black community that they continue to vote Democrat. But as I said to the waiter I spoke to,the black community needs to get back to God. And I say this of the black community in particular because if they continue the black on black crime and high abortion rate they are not going to have a voice in this country, they are snuffing out their own race. In a big city near me there is a pastor who goes out in the streets and tries to tell these facts to his people and they are so indoctrinated they refuse to hear the truth. And yes, there are absolute truths and facts and if the black community does not soon wake up they will be no more. I hope someone will reach them before that happens.

I just read an article that says the widow of the soldier is now saying that President Trump's words "made her cry".

I try to not be cynical about stories like this, but a couple of things stand out to me. Here we have a woman who lost her husband in combat, and the president calls her to offer condolences..... but she has a woman representative, who is a known Trump basher, listen in on the other line to hear what the President has to say?

The representative immediately goes public, castigating the President for what he said, and after a week or so of media outrage, the wife says that the President's comments "made her cry".....

This appears to me to be more of the work of the movement to attempt to remove President Trump from office...

While I truly feel sorry for the widow, and her family, I find it difficult to understand why she would have a representative "listen in" to condolences from the President.

This whole episode is beginning to appear to have been staged to have another reason to slam the President.

Everybody knows that Trump is brash, and his style of speaking is not the "measured tones" of a polished politician.

I wonder how long Abraham Lincoln (who WAS a polished politician) worked on his letter to Mrs. Bixby about the loss of her sons in the war.

Perhaps that is what the President should do, just write letters to all the survivors of fallen servicemen/women..... that way, nobody could attempt to read things into his "tone", or his "inflection", or any non-perfect statements of condolence.

As it is now, he's damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't..... all thanks to the national liberal propaganda machine that is the main stream media.

This reeks of a set up. The rep said she didn't hear the whole conversation and the widow said she couldn't remember the whole conversation but now she suddenly remembers with 100% clarity and the rep heard it all.Thats just for starters. Add to that you have a rep listening in on a private call. Why would she be doing this considering the widow is so distraught by her husband death? Suddenly she'd think to have someone listen in on a call?! I don't believe a word that comes out of either of their mouths. They are full of it.And they both ought to be ashamed of themselves.

The rep has made clear how she feels about Trump so nothing she says can be believed because she has an ax to grind and has admitted to that. Kelly said what was said to him when Trump asked what he should say. Trump may well have not repeated verbatim what Kelly said but the idea was that her husband died doing what he loved, and he served his country even while knowing and accepting the dangers of doing so. You'd have to be an immature twit not to understand what was being said. Made her cry, what nonsense. And she's proven her attitude by coming out and defending the rep and going against Trump all for what? She's suppose to be a grief stricken widow! Ive lost loved ones,my mothers sister was 43 yrs old. And I was grief stricken when she died. At that time I was in ministry and I did not think I could carry on,I considered taking a leave. With the Lords help I made it through. Now Im married and I can tell you that had it been my husband that passed away my last thought would be making the rounds on tv and defending a rep that meant nothing to me. She is taking away from the others that lost loved ones and their grief. Pretty low in my opinion. And Fredricka needs to loosen her cowgirl hat and give her brain a little air. Resist Trump at all costs. smh Despicable. And the MSM loves every minute.

A lot of extra-sensitive people have their "feelers" out much of the time to try and pick up on "trigger" words and phrases.
Once one of the words they have been waiting for is detected, I honestly do believe they stop really listening from that point onward (not that they were ever truly listening for much more than their "trigger" word before) and the conversation might as well be over.

I see "hyper" as an exacerbation of the normal sensitivity a person has by nature..... whereas "extra" implies the addition of sensitives they had to go out of their way to find and add to their usual baggage.

I think we should just be careful that we don't fall into the same pit that the media is in... making everything about race. In this story, the race of the widow, and the representative shouldn't matter at all.

What matters more, is the political leaning of the representative, because we don't really have any idea what the political leaning of the widow is/was. We all know how that political opportunists will move in quickly to twist a story to their political advantage... look at Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.... they are totally shameless in their attempts at manipulating news stories to advance their cause. There are many others that do the same thing, but those two come to mind... along with Maxine Waters....

Anyway, when WE make race a defining part of this story, we are doing the same thing the media does... we are trying to divide the listeners along racial lines, instead of the more pertinent, and accurate, political lines.

Strange thing, Welfare became Welfare-to-Work, when we were on it. Either, you had a plan to get off it, or you didn't get on it. And for those who were already on it, they had two years to implement their plan to get off. (We also were given two-years max. At the time we got on we had two ways of getting off. Either John was going to get healthy and back to work after treatment, or he'd be approved by Disability. We assumed the former, but ended up getting the latter.)

Do you know who put Welfare-to-Work as a law in this land? Clinton! (The one who really did become President.)

I'm curious how that changed since then.
