Thread: Stand by Catalonia

You continue to make assertions. Remember how many so-called experts predicted economic meltdown for the UK if it voted for Brexit? We now have the best employment situation in my adult lifetime, and yet you insist with the pretence that Brexit is harmful.

You also persist in thinking that an independent Catalonia would be led by people akin to Jeremy Corbyn. Surely an independent Catalonia would elect a government in a free ballot, and the outcome would be decided by the votes cast.

You pretend to care for the people of Catalonia, but you also seem to credit them with very little intelligence.

I cannot go beyond your word choice, assertations. That is a curious election since what I have cited are primarily facts, not my own derivations.

    Pound way down.

    Banks fleeing.

Industry dwindling at home, moving abroad.

    Hunger.

    These are not opinions.

They are poor evidence to support your assertions. The value of the pound is of little importance to most people. I would rather have a job than a strong pound. I can remember France having a strong franc many years ago. Millions of people remained poor.

I do not know which banks are fleeing, but the Bank of England is thinking of putting up interest rates because the economy is growing - good news for savers.

I repeat that there is far less hunger in the UK than in Greece, which is a victim of the Eurozone you love. Also, such poverty as there is in this country is largely caused by benefits sanctions, which are unconnected with the EU.

I have watched the evening news here and seen pictures of thousands of people on the streets of Barcelona demanding continued union with Spain. From what I see there are a very large percentage of Catalin people who have no desire to go it alone.

There is no similarity between the Uk Referendom on leaving the EU and whats happening in Catalonia. In the UK the referendum was legal. The one in Catolinia is against the Spanish Constitution and has no legality at all

To say a job is more important than a strong currency says the person speaking is very wealthy, a tunnel-visioned nationaist, or just not thinking.

I live here in Spai on my pension. If the dollar goes up, I definitely feel it. If it goes down I also fell it but I have to tighten my belt somewhat.

A strong currency translates as buying power, making those who have good employment the backbone of all industry and commerce in that they ae the consumer base for all business.

The nouveau riche, and many not so new are shooting themselves in the arse by making the middle class lower class and the lower class poverty stricken.

This movement is global, and it will ersult in the rendering of all currencies valueless......then those who pull the financial strings out of their places will be found sitting on their mountains of money wondering why it has no value....you know what follows.

It is difficult to continually interact with people who are more inclined to make God and His will only of their own nations, so I will bow out of this off-the-wall thread. I have tried to relate it to morality and to the unfolding of the will of our Father, but it is seen as simply some political garbage b eing handed out. Believe me, my motivation has nothing todow with politics.....morality in the sight of god and how it is interacting with His will. Bye from here and God bless all, amen.

Tanakh - yes there were crowds demonstrating in favour of continued oppression, but where were they on referendum day? Did they vote?

The referendum was a democratic vote, and arguing that it was illegal is akin to fascism. I did not intend to use that word, but you force me to it.

JaumeJ - you continue to be extremely rude, and I have had enough. You value your pension more than you value an unemployed man getting a job. Like Tanakh, you despise democracy. You are a truly horrid person.

    Enough.

Well, it seems like the leaders of this movement have tucked tail and ran off to Belgium.

I despise people who stick labels on me because I disagree with their views. I have a Niece who is part Spanish and a Spanish Brother in Law make whatever you like of that.
