I was surprised at this news. I thought of Australia as being the last bastion against PC in all its forms.

Amid talks of potential boycotts and refusals to provide services to gay couples trying to get married, a group of Conservative lawmakers proposed a bill Monday that would strengthen religious freedoms.

“I don’t think anyone who voted in this postal survey wants to see their fellow Australians put up on hate-speech charges,” said Lyle Shelton, a spokesman for Coalition for Marriage. “We need to protect freedom of speech, freedom of conscience and also freedom of religion.”
I wonder how well that will work out for them. It didnt go well for my state, we backed out of it due to the peer pressure, I guess.

It would be nice if people who do not feel okay with providing services to those living in this lifestyle could be protected, but in this current day, it seems unlikely that such a thing will happen.

That's a bit like saying, I hope homophobic people can be protected. I think it's all a step in the right direction, things are moving forward, to be more tolerant of each other, whatever colour, creed, or sexual orientation. Soon the generation of KKK will die off.

I'm not going to judge someone because they love someone of the same sex. If they are a promiscuous sket, I will judge them as I would judge a heterosexual.

But someone who is Christian and has to bake a cake for homosexuals, or even Satanists, and has a problem with it, well God will judge them. I'm glad the younger crowd are more tolerant and in a sense loving, compared to the die hard people of an older generation who are stuck in the past, and therefore pessimistic about the present.

Well, here's the problem,God judges it whether you do or you don't. And He holds heterosexuals accountable when they have sex outside marriage. Both are sin and God will judge it as such. And its not a "step in the right direction" according to the Bible. We are to be salt and light and here you are agreeing with the world. I don't get it.Either you follow Gods Word or you don't.Pretty simple really.

A couple questions though. Why will God judge a person for not baking a cake? And who do you mean when you say the "kkk generation"? I'd appreciate if you'd be more specific.

Nothing to do with political correctness. It's a civil rights issue.

No,its not a "civil rights" issue, its been made civil rights issue by far left liberals backed by communists intent on destroying anything to do with the Bible and Christianity. It use to be seen as a perversion, which is what it is according to the Bible. And in the OT it was a capitol offense, punishable by death. Just because we are living under grace doesn't mean we sanction sin and perversion.

America was never intended to be a theocracy. The Constitution makes that clear.
A lot of Christians need to get over their persecution complex. Another group of people being granted a right is not taking anything away from you.
If I wanted to live in a theocracy I would move to Saudi Arabia

If people really wants to sin, people can choose to do so freely...God has given us a free will, and the Constitution has given us a right to exercise that free will.

Exactly. Free will. That's between them and God.
Congress shall make no law respecting any one religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
    I think that's pretty clear.
Apparently some people only want to honor the Constitution when it benefits their way of thinking

I don't want to honor the constitution at all, that's almost as idiotic as patriotism or national pride.

Perversion has nothing to do with a country being a "theocracy". This country is based on Judeau/Christian laws. This use to be considered a perversion and now it has been normalized. Pedophilia is next. You want to give them "rights" too?

You can't equate pedophilia with consenting adults. That's what you call a false equivalency fallacy

Its freedom OF religion, not FROM religion. We are making sexual deviancy a "right" and its wrong.

No,no, ask liberals, you definitely can compare the two. Check recent signs they have been holding up. No bashing pedos. See when you open the floodgates for perversion then all kinds of things come down the line. Just because people consent does not mean its not wrong or a perversion.
