Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. (ESV)

I'm not Catholic, and the Pope is not my leader.

I do not believe that God leads us into temptation. Temptation is the work of Satan.

How do you interpret the words "lead us not"? IMHO they mean "lead us away from". Either way you say the words "lead us not", God understands what we are saying.

Michael is a very dear friend, and this is his idea of what is really being said there. Obviously, I think the whole thing is worth listening to, but you can skip to 39:00 to hear just the part on TEMPTATION.

God allowed the temptation of Job, so yes it is proper to say.

He also wants to change the "Our Father" because he says the translation is wrong.

((I've just realized the Lord's Prayer is the "Our Father". How silly from me.
It's just I'm still used with Italian's translation.))

God allowed Satan to tempt Job. He did not tempt Job. God also allowed Jesus to be tempted by Satan. IMHO, God is the only one who can lead us away from any temptation. When we are weak, he is our strength.

Do you believe Matt 4:1 is a wrong translation, for in this verse the spirit led Jesus into to wilderness

Luke and mark have the same similar statement of Jesus being led.
Matt 4:1
Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

When you are tempted is it not testing your faith?

Was Jesus tested in the wilderness?
To tempt and test are two entirely different animals....Job was tested and not tempted to sin...Jesus was tempted and there is a difference....if you cannot understand that then you miss the grand picture of both events....!

tempt
tɛm(p)t/Submit
verb
entice or try to entice (someone) to do something that they find attractive but know to be wrong or unwise

test1
tɛst/Submit
noun
1.
a procedure intended to establish the quality, performance, or reliability of something, especially before it is taken into widespread use

God does not tempt anyone to sin...men tempt themselves when drawn away by their own lust....Satan tempted Christ to sin....Satan was allowed to sift Job so as to test his faith...they are two different events, two differernt applications and two different results...!

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one

Is this your answer for what the meaning of tempt means?

Was it a evil spirit that led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted???

God will allow you to be tempted or tested within your ability to withstand it.

1 Cor
10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Luke 22
31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”
