Let's see-- what is Jesus Justice?
It might help if you would accurately quote what I say. I said that God reluctantly destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their orgies and total rebellion against God's laws. That's the wrath of God. I'm not defending what Manning did. To knowingly and willingly commit treason is a serious offense. He could have sought other ways to resolve the issues. And I am offended by non-traditional lifestyles, as I believe they are unclean, unhealthy, and result in emotional bondage. The only freedom in life is found in realizing our true identity in Christ ("The Bondage Breaker," Dr. Neil Anderson--Freedom in Christ Ministries).

The comparison to Islamic legalism, which is similar to the Pharisee legalism of the time of Jesus, and the American justice system, which is similar to Canadian since both are from English Common Law, is that Christ referred to those who put religious legalism over God's mercy, as a "brood of vipers," who had definitely "convoluted" Judaism. American justice can be chaotic, unjust, legalistic, and more often than not, under modern standards amounts to "cruel and unusual punishment."

I still agree with former President Obama's conclusion that 35 years was excessive. That solitary confinement is "an affront to our common humanity," and that justice reform is here to stay in America, and also likely Canada too.
But, there are two sides to the argument here. I think Manning's mental state effected his behavior. And soldiers should know, since they are not drafted, that they are not signing up for summer camp in Los Angeles.
From a well-known movie, the military trains people with strict discipline:
1) UNIT;
2) CORPS;
3) GOD;
4) COUNTRY.
(our soldiers would die for Canada too)

It's not very smart to knowingly betray, dishonor, or disobey the most powerful and visible armed services in the world, and expect to get away with it. Enlisted personnel should know that they can be executed for this, as Private Slovak was in WWII. Although he was a contientious objector, many of whom end up on Canada's porch.

I think the Edward Snowden case is different. I believe he was the helicopter pilot who disobeyed orders and used his helicopter to protect innocent civilians. I believe the rules of engagement have changed since the 1960's and that Snowden was engaged in the actual heat of combat, whereas Manning's offenses were mainly deliberately giving classified information to "Wikileaks," if I'm not mistaken.
I believe that the American government makes every effort to avoid collateral casualties, which makes the statement of Senator Sam Cotten even more shocking, since Snowden has received awards for taking heroic actions to obey military codes of ethics and honor which are described in the (UCMJ) Manual for Courts Martial, Rule 9169j) that describe when to disobey unlawful orders:
Rule 916(d) of the Manual for Courts Martial says:
It is a defense to any offense that the accused was acting pursuant to orders unless the accused knew the orders to be unlawful or a person of ordinary sense and understanding would have known the orders to be unlawful.
(warontherocks.com; July 24, 2017)

Senator Sam Cotton called Snowden, (who even the military eventually honored I believe) who was clearly obeying rule 916(j) of the (UCMJ) and basic humanity:

"an egotistical serial liar and traitor" who
"deserves to rot in jail for the rest of his life."
--Senator Sam Cotton about a helicopter pilot
who disobeyed orders in the Vietnam war to protect innocent civilians.

Nevertheless, soldiers who have broken moral or legal laws in the chaos of war, are covered under the authorization of state authority up to a point to use deadly force against enemies who threaten national or international security and safety, and should never despair of God's mercy, as Kind David, one of the greatest warriors of the Bible, confessed his sins of adultery against a commanders wife, and having him sent to the front lines to die, and was not condemned by God.

I still agree with former President Obama's conclusion that 35 years was excessive. That solitary confinement is "an affront to our common humanity,"

Really?! What about the crime that puts one in solitary confinement? What about the victims? Is their crime an affront to humanity? Am I wrong or did not people lose their lives to find Bradley Manning? The punishment was just.

well, either you or angela53010 asked why I was getting a neuro-psych evaluation--
it's just an aid in counseling-- I kind of enjoy the tests and talking to psych folks, especially PHD's. An intensive test can help pinpoint counseling issues, such as depression and PTSD and aid in a diagnosis, not that I put much stock in labels, but it helps to see what is going on with aging issues, and other issues like mood swings, etc...
I think they focus on childhood traumas too, such as multiple moving in my case.
And of course PTSD from the Good Friday 1964 9.2 earthquake!
I will just tell the docs that I suffer from PTSD and "cruel and unusual punishment," from sassy Canadian ladies on the internet...

as far as Trudeau, I remember that he abstained from the Jerusalem vote--
it's a very complex issue-- is he really that pro-Muslim?
I like his wife's singing!
you have mood swings?

sassafras tea sounds about as good as anything else I've tried--

The sunlight cycle here does not help-- 5 hours of daylight now or so.
Alaska in winter is like solitary confinement.

Really?! What about the crime that puts one in solitary confinement? What about the victims? Is their crime an affront to humanity? Am I wrong or did not people lose their lives to find Bradley Manning? The punishment was just.
Kalief Browder, a young teen, received the death-penalty-by-default for stealing a back-pack.
The reforms that are going to be implemented soon, backed by powerful, bi-partisan, high-level coalitions here in the US and hopefully soon in Canada, and Christ Himself, whose death by capital punishment defined "cruel and unusual punishment," are mainly for abuses within the reform system that result in permanent disability, an increase in criminal behavior, and death.

Former President Barak Obama mentioned Kalief Browder.
He was accused of stealing a back-pack.
"In 2010, a 16-year-old named Kalief Browder from the Bronx was accused of stealing a backpack. He was sent to Rikers Island to await trial, where he reportedly endured unspeakable violence at the hands of inmates and guards — and spent nearly two years in solitary confinement." (Washington Post, Jan 25, 2016)

Even here in Alaska, another african-american young man with a treatable mental health condition, was slowly tortured to death over 8-days, denied medical treatment, and died in solitary confinement. Many others have died, some begging for medical help, most of whom are of the native culture. Many young women who have commmitted minor offenses have taken their lives rather than face the severe psychological abuses of a system designed for hardened criminals.

Many law-makers here and community leaders were demanding upgrades to the archaic, barbaric abuses that feed on themselves in an environment where human-beings are considered less than animals. This is not the purpose of confinement, and why it is going to be radically reformed soon, beginning with establishing alternative transitionary confinement for first-time offenders, young people, and citizens who may have serious underlying medical issues.

Because the abuses are so ingrained, and the level of isolation and control by state power and potential for abuses and retaliation is widespread, these changes need to be implemented and mandated at the federal level.

My own response was to pray for an earthquake to destroy the one facility where the abuses were prevalent and deaths were occurring. Out of mercy, I revised my request to "an earthquake large enough to draw attention to the issues, and warnings from God, but not so large to cause deaths," saying that, "this is going to happen."

It did indeed happen shortly thereafter, one of the largest and longest and of the same type as the massive 9.2 Good Friday Quake of 1964--a 7.1 magnitude1 quake. Since I was present in 1964, this draws a direct parallel to the "cruel and unusual punishment," of the crucifixion of Christ, and HIS mandate that things change so that graduate students like Sandra Bland do not have to lose their lives over minor offenses and medical issues or addiction issues that might effect public behavior.

State confinement is not there to implement the death-penalty by default for minor offenses, or the innocent, or to inflict permanent mental disability, or worsen it, or to make society more dangerous.

"The system is broken,
" our governor here said.
--Governor Walker of Alaska

Many police precincts across america are implementing the reforms for drug addiction that police chief Companello of Masachusetts started, which is in keeping with the California ruling in 1962 declaring confinement for addiction and medical issues as "cruel and unusual punishment," in violation of the 8th and 14th amendments.

The prison empire in America is broken at all levels and excessive sentences 3-5 times in excess of modern justice amounts to "cruel and unusual punishment" for all but the most serious offenders and is making society more unsafe. It must be reformed itself to meet the values of modern civilization. This is backed by a bi-partisan coalition across America, and by many police precincts. It is backed by God.
It must be reformed;
Or it must be overthrown--
by lawmakers, to ensure the effectiveness, efficiency, and safety of society.

This song that was released about the same time has the words about Jesus being a "prison-shaking savior:"

Hopefully, this convicted traitor will get laughed off the ballot, but, since it is in Maryland.... who knows?

We have a military man, leaking classified documents to Wiki, caught, convicted, had his sentence commuted by Obama, becoming a transgendered man/woman, and now is going to run for our nation's Senate.

You cannot make this kind of idiocy up.....

Personally think Manning is a genius and just became a Tranny so he would be set free, if you are a Tranny in the US you can get away with murder. If you say "this tranny should be put in jail for the murder they just commited" all the libtards would say "you are so narriow minded who are you to judge you are just a biggot who hates gay people, I'm open minded and except everone now get lost you loser conservative Trump lover, your kind isnt excepted here"

yes, the so called 'laws' of our world are definitely 'un-just' and will continue to be so,
as in 'old times' = those who Love our Saviour understand this, and know what our
limits are according to how we are led and what we can see and do, as Jesus leads,
and as we obey...

I voted for Trump and believe he will accomplish some positive things, as he adapts more to a different public role. In another thread-post, both Martin Luther King Jr. and President Trump were both labeled "bigots."
It appears that Trump had divine favor over Hillary--
But, I support former President Obama's bold justice reforms, especially pardons which are a necessary balance of power within an imperfect justice system, and often inconsistent, arbitrary, excessive, and unjust punishments.
I still believe that 35 years is "cruel and unusual punishment" and amounts to slow-execution-by-default.
Execution might have been more just.

Ok-- we have some name corrections needed here, other posters and myself:

1) PFC Bradley Manning is the Army intelligence specialist who was convicted of treason for giving classified information to Wikileaks and has since transgendered to "Chelsea Manning." I believe it involved white-collar crimes and no one was injured looking for him.

2) Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is the soldier who deserted in Afghanistan causing three soldiers to be seriously injured looking for him. His courtmartial is before an Army judge now, I believe.

3) Edward Snowden is the former CIA and US contractor who gave classified information to Wikileaks and is currently seeking asylum in Russia. He is the one who the US just charged with espionage.

4) The late Capt. Hugh Thompson is the one who shielded innocent civilians in Vietnam with his helicopter, and was eventually honored for his decision and heroism in making a combat decision to counter unlawful orders according to military rules of engagement.

So, Senator Sam Cotton was justified, in my opinion calling Snowden a traitor.
But, candidate Trump's opinion was not well thought out that Bergdahl should have been "tossed out of a plane without a parachute."

The late Lt. General Lawrence F. Snowden is the one who I had confused with the other Snowden. Lt. Gen. Lawrence F. Snowden served in WWII, the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam war receiving medals of honor for his service. He also founded the annual "Reunion of Honor," to honor the fallen in battle at IWO JIMA, where my Uncle lost his life in WWII.

Lt. Gen. L. Snowden was also honored by the Emperor of Japan for his service as Chief of Staff of United States Forces Japan, in Japan after the war in the 1970's.

Let's say you had a child who was killed (murdered) wrongfully by a government, and all they had to do was slap a "classified" label on the file to ensure no one knows knows what went down when your child was killed. Along comes a "traitor" who feels that the government is overstepping it's power and is being anything BUT transparent with information regarding your specific child as well as other children of families who served in the armed forces. This traitor then releases documents that expose the truth as to what is really going on (in Iraq) as well as what happened to your child who was wrongfully killed (murdered) by a government's military. You now have closure as to what happened... would you blast the "traitor" for giving you closure? Would you still call them a "traitor" for doing what they thought was the right and moral thing to do in spite of knowing the dangerous consequences that could come from doing what they thought was the right thing?

I'm sure you're away that the Counter-Intelligence officer who led the Pentagon review into the Manning leaks admitted they were unable/unsuccessful in linking any casualty to the actual leak itself. If you remember at the time, the lying main stream media kept saying that "Manning has blood on his hands" as a result of the leak. Even when this was not substantiated, it was undermined even, by the Counter-Intelligence committee, the main stream media still kept saying it... They never even came back and said "Well, we thought it would lead to the death of American service men but it turns out it didn't." Then again, that is expecting/asking way too much of today's media!

It's one thing to disapprove of Manning's transformation, but it's another to label Manning a "traitor" for doing what many argue was the right and more difficult choice. It would have been easier to cower and not do what you were convicted of as being the right thing.

Having said ALL that... I hope they don't elect Manning into the senate.

no.... they exposed war.... which is a terrible thing, but not necessarily evil.
Let this sink in... You said "no" to someone saying killing (and lying about them being armed/firing at the helicopter) innocent civilians is NOT evil... It's this type of idiocy that people use to justify abortion... "It's not killing an innocent life, it's a casualty of poverty..." You can do any kind of verbal gymnastics or play the semantics game all you want... at the end of the day, the US military was exposed (by Manning) for lying about armed civilians, lying about being fired upon, and murdering innocent civilians. Call it whatever you want... we all know what it is... even you.

If civilians were deliberately targeted exclusively, then yes, that would be illegal, and immoral. The US does not deliberately target civilians, unlike our current enemy.

Many times, sadly, there are civilians caught "in the crossfire", so to speak, and are usually referred to as collateral damage. That is a terrible side effect of war.

The US has gone way beyond what most countries do to prevent collateral damage...
So it wasn't proven from the helicopter footage/audio that the civilians weren't armed and weren't firing at the helicopter yet on their radio they asked for permission to engage the targets?

Let's be ignorant for a minute and pretend there wasn't any video footage to show the civilians were unarmed and NOT firing at the helicopter and that the military "accidentally" killed the civilians thinking they were armed. You're saying the killings are essentially justified because it's just "collateral damage"? Not only do they NOT have to own their mistake, they can cover it up with a "classified" sticker and everything's cool because it's war?

I've seen so many ignorant pro-abortion people who say they don't think an unborn child is a human being so it's not killing an innocent human being. It doesn't WHAT they think... the fact remains, they killed/are killing an innocent human being!!! There is no dancing around this simple fact.

I suppose the laughing out loud at running over the unarmed bodies of the shot up dead civilians isn't showing the character of these men in the video leaked by Manning either right? It's just another casualty of war...

OK, so, why didn't Manning wait until he was out of the military, or even while there, and file a complaint through legal channels about the one incident? Instead of sharing thousands of classified documents?

In war, there are heroes and honorable soldiers/enlisted personnel/combat crews, and there are those who take unethical or immoral actions, either deliberately or accidentally. I still think Manning and Snowden could have taken actions through legal channels, instead of massive acts of suicidal treason-meltdown.

As far as abortion goes--
This is what candidate Carly Fiorina said:
"This latest news is tragic and outrageous. This isn't about 'choice'. It's about profiting on the death of the unborn while telling women it's about empowerment". ... she harshly criticized Planned Parenthood and their involvement in fetal tissue donation, stating "I dare Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama to watch these tapes. Watch a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking, while someone says, 'We have to keep it alive to harvest its brain'".
(Carly Fiorina--Sept. 16, 2015, presidential debate; wikipedia.org)
I believe Hillary Clinton, a supporter of Planned Parenthood, even referred to these video's as disturbing.

This is what the prophet Isaiah said:
"You slaughter your children as human sacrifices..." (Isaiah 57:5) [/COLOR]

Oh totally! The second Manning was out of the military he could have totally filed a complaint over classified material. They would have totally declassified the material so that there could be accountability and closure as to what really happened. "Totally!"

The reality is, Manning had a window to upload the documents and did so in a way that didn't put anyone's life in danger. The lead Counter-Intelligent officer has debunked reports that the leaks led to the deaths of service men. Manning leaked more than the murder of civilians by the way.

When Wikileaks reports something that makes Republicans upset, Democrats love it (they loved Manning leaks at the time). When Wikileaks reports something that makes Democrats upset, Republicans love it (they loved Wikileaks when they drop bombs on Hillary during the presidential election). If there is an accountability news media that is hated by both the left and right, it must mean they are doing something right. lol
