It's really disrespectful for a former Navy SEAL to make a public statement about a U.S. President. Regardless of agreement, the office of Presidency should be respected by military personnel, and his statement could be interpreted as a threat to national security, through possibly destabilizing America through destabilizing the Presidency. It's up to the military to consider how to best honor the Presidential request in a way that would honor those who serve this country, as well as honor the office of Presidential authority, and not former military personnel.

I didn't know soldiers weren't entitled to free speech.

Propaganda is a strategy. It is important. So if President's Trumps attention is a show of power in regards to Korea or whoever; kudos.

And if the Parade is to be one that shows honor and respect for our military; kudos.

The ex Navy Seal has the right to say whatever he wants. But him saying that the Parade is third world ______ is ridiculous. He is obviously not skilled in the art of war. The "boo game" Strategy in a lot of cases wins the war before it starts.

Just what does a military parade actually say about any country.

IMHO, It is ridiculous for any country to hold a military parade. Our military edge is the technology that world doesn't know about. This vet would much rather see a lot less boasting about what we are capable of, and a lot more investment in new technologies to keep our military edge.

Since I've spent practically my whole life being lied to or otherwise deceived by the Fed Govt, I can't help but ask why anyone would believe this "ex seal" to begin with. Since when do seals talk about classified happenings? Bin Laden's "compound" was within a half mile of the Pakistani police and they didn't hear a helicopter crash or any shooting? Does anybody think it was weird they drop the body in the ocean like the Soprano's? Pakistan officials didn't know Bin Laden was there? The whole thing makes no sense, but no, we need to spend millions investigating the heck out of things that don't result in anything!

Let them have their parade. At least it's something we're spending money on that we can see instead of the puff of smoke we don't see.

The president wants a parade. This retired Naval officer would much rather we spend the resources (time and money) on troop support and training.

Your first paragraph is ridiculous.

I will also add that this is extremely disrespectful to our troops because they didn't sign on to serve their country to parade around for 45's amusement

Although there has not been a full on military parade in this country in the immediate past, our history has not been devoid of them .

Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Martin Van Buren, James Polk, Andrew Jackson, Eisenhower, JFK,
Bush Sr. I'm sure this list is not all inclusive.

Just two throw in my worthless two cents...

I've always wondered to myself why we haven't had any kind of military parades during my existence... Not after the Gulf War, not after the War in Iraq kind of (sort of?) concluded. Nothing. I was really looking forward to some kind of national celebration after Bin Laden was finally defeated, and the celebrations were there on the people level. But on the government level, just formalities...

My generation and those immediately before and after mine need to be reminded that war is unfortunately a fact of life and it is extremely important to support and respect our military. So I have absolutely no problem with a military parade.

Sadly, I expect there to be many people jeering and protesting the military as the parade goes on because there are so many brainwashed, self-centered, simplistic, truly narcissistic people around my age. They're self-destructive.

It appears the OP and its subsequent ridicule of our President has nothing really to do with the parade or Trump's alleged ego, and is instead an opportunity to show his leftist tolerance and love, er, um, I mean disdain and contempt for another human being. Namely Trump. Again.

If Obama had done the exact same thing, it would have all been done in love, integrity and humility. A rare feat done in good taste! :D

I don't want the parade for a couple of reasons:
1) that money time and effort could go towards something that would actually boost military morale. I.e. proper healthcare, better weapons and defense tools
2) I don't think we have a military strong enough to be boastful about, not at the fault of our great men and women in uniform but at the fault of previous and possibly current leadership.
