I remember coach Barnes totally spazzed out because I accidentally walked in with my hat on. But yeah let's give him a gun

That's why, if I was a student, I'd want to be armed also.

Would you have shot the teacher? He (the teacher) seems to be a bit unhinged. Surely people who are allowed to have guns undergo some kind of psychological competency evaluation?

If only there were a law in Georgia prohibiting his carrying a gun on school grounds...oh wait.

I'd shoot that gun right out of his hand.

How do you put conditions on a right?

Yeah, the psych restriction is a thorny idea.

Who determines who is crazy? The government.

What dominates the government? Political concerns.

What is the most common charge leveled against somebody opposed to your political point of view? "They're crazy."

I'd shoot that gun right out of his hand.

How do you put conditions on a right?

Maybe arming the teachers isn't such a good idea after all. I guess arming the janitors would be the better option.

The government does a background check and part of it is to see if there's a history of being institutionalized (for mental illness). The problem is that a lot of mentally ill are never institutionalized...

Isn't it done all the time? As soon as my right to something infringes upon your right to the same thing or something else, problems ensue. That's why we have laws: to determine who has what rights over others. For instance, some people love to drive fast, and perhaps it is their right to do so when they are not breaking any laws, but as soon as someone gets hurt as a result of their speeding, their right to go fast is going to be curtailed.

Driving fast isn't a right. Keeping and bearing arms is. Me keeping and bearing arms does not infringe on anyone else's rights.

It isn't? What about the right to pursue happiness, if going fast makes you happy? It may not be the best example ;)

I think arming teachers will work, if you don't allow the teachers that are registered democrats carry weapons.

The pursuit of happiness is not an enumerated right. It's from the preamble to the declaration of independence, telling King George to screw off.
