A friend/coworker at my last employment had a son that was a priest. This is back in the 90's when outing molesting priest was big news. (As compared with the decades before and after when we're all back to pretending nothing is happening again, knowing that's not true.)

The Vatican does deal with wayward priests. This friend's son was one example of how the Vatican deals with it. They certainly can't fire a priest, because, let's face it, the only retirement plan priest have are nursing homes or dying on the job. They can't/won't tell cops, because, let's face it, that will end with thousands and thousands of lawsuits. There are no jails for such priest.

Sooo, this friend's son worked in a small parish with one other priest. Along with giving a daily mass each, plus both doing mass twice on Sunday, plus Last Rites, and all other daily priesting-work, the two of them were in charge of a third priest, who wasn't supposed to leave the rectory, because he molested little boys. That priest wasn't supposed to do anything but stay in that rectory. (Of course, that also meant two men working full time wouldn't be able to watch him 24/7, but minor detail.)

See? Problem solved! The Vatican at its finest!

"Outrage" wasn't really outrage and nothing will happen anyway.

There are gay pastors and preachers in every denomination and not exclusively in the Catholic church. Hypocrisy exists everywhere. Looks like still another Catholic bashing thread. Gets old after awhile.
Big difference. If a non-Catholic pastor or preacher is busted, they lose their job. And if he's a Catholic? Apparently, "Gets old after a while."

I guess that the only thing that would get old after awhile is the priest.

According to Billy Graham's grandson, Boz Tchividjian, we Protestants have a mighty big log to pull from our eyes before we poke at the RCC's speck. In this department.

Granted, his statistics are sloppy and he's probably overzealous given family history. But it's something important to consider.

I say we mourn for the Roman Catholics and encourage their Church in the direction of reformation.

Well, my entire Dad's side is RC (except Dad). Some have embraced the Gospel and two of them are/were way better Christians than I am. But most are unsaved and I do mourn or them. I've generalized this view into sympathy toward the Catholic laity and a consideration of individual Catholics as possible brothers though I'm probably more anti-RC dogma than most folks on this site.

All of this to say I have a bias because of family. Just like good old Boz T.

Tried that. Got killed.

Tried it again. Got the reformers back into the church postmortem.

There is no hope in the RCC. There is hope for witnessing to Catholics.

2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

If I were in a church that had such a scandalous issue as this I would find another church or start my own in my living room. I would not give and support any church that tolerated sodomy and would be revolted over such a matter.

Such opprobrium it is a miasma resulting from men declaring themselves righteous when they are vile sinners and wholly unregenerate. I would fear to be in the same building with them.

what else is new? since I've been an adult, in my readings and in the news,
this is usually the high-light news of the cc...
this is what they do and this is why they exist and these kind of people are
who they recruit and enable them to survive until this very day!

not referring to the innocents, who truly believe their mockery, but those who
KNOW where they can go to get what they want...

Actually, Church of Nazarene does ordain gays. I've read there's no written policy but they've decided that professed gays have to remain celibate.
