I totally agree. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think some people speculate Hawking's salvation so they can get a "gotcha!" dig at him for being atheist most of his life and using science as an explanation for why he doesn't believe in a God. That isn't love though. I can guarantee you God doesn't passive aggressively rejoice when one of His children is lost.

Yes, Adolph, I still indulge in those gotcha moments, but strive to do differently. Praise GOD the Father we are forgiven, and growing up beyond such behavior-in the precious name of our Lord Jesus, Amen!

AHA! You KNOW the "trinity" is a contrived word. Not because it doesn't ring true, but rather because it's NOT ENOUGH. The
'trinity' is hard to explain because God IS what He IS. His very name Jehovah means I am that I am. And you saw it! And questioned it! Because it just isn't enough. It's lacking. It's a false bottom.

This is as close as I've ever seen or heard to explain this... this "trinity". This inadequate ... incomplete, impaired expression. It doesn't say Who. God. Is.

I would agree it's "nice" to hope Hawking accepted Christ as his Saviour right before his death, but more importantly, it's ENTIRELY possible too. Maybe believing God can do the impossible is "naive" to you... I'm sure Hawking thought the same thing... in that sense, you and he appear to see common ground. Sure, possible does not equate to probable, but the simple fact remains, no one knows if Hawking accepted Christ right before his death; no one can doom or cast him to Hell but God.

OR.......it could be that believing what Christ said about our being able to DISCERN the spirits.....which are of God, and which are not..............by believing in Christ and His word....I can pretty well figure that Stephen's in deeeeeep dodo right about now.

It's kinda funny how believers will not hesitate to say when another believer passes........that they "are home with the Lord now."

But, can't seem to bring themselves to use the same logic/reasoning that determined that statement to an unbeliever like Stephen by saying..... "dat boyz gotta be HOT 'bout now!"

The problem is that the words used: Gehenna, Hades and Sheol dont mean Hell. They mean grave. Not so sure that Hel is compatible with a loving God.

Also, He weeps over every soul lost. The true nature of God we who are His should share...

Newton has a rather nice low-key memorial outside his old rooms at Trinity College here in Cambridge. A simple apple tree on the green. Unlike Hawking Newton believed in God most of his life. I do hope he made it to heaven.

He may have become a traitor to those of who followed him at the last moment and called upon Jesus' name. We can only hope for He was lost with not doubt.
