I haven't been in a Toys "R" Us store in many, many years. But I have lots of memories (in the 1980's) of taking my kids there when they were little. And also my siblings and I (in the 1960-70's) would go there with our parents around Christmastime. I bet they don't even make half the stuff we used to buy from their store.

And once again, thousands of workers will wonder where the next meal is coming from while the CEOs buy new mansions.

Yeah....because we all know, once you've worked at Toys R Us, you can never find a job anywhere else....

 I love you bro, but not everything is about corporate greed and fat cats.

Toys R Us is shutting down because it cost a lot to maintain floor space in retail stores, and internet vendors can sell cheaper in higher volume.

Maybe all the employees will find better paying jobs in delivery services.

This has nothing to do with greed.

Toys r us is closing because in the early 2000s the company switched from public to private ownership, and the company was purchased on a loan, automatically putting the company in debt.

Believe it or not, the company did well despite online companies like amazon, and it also was successful online, as it had its own online store, too.

But the millions in debt that was forced on the company could never be worked out.

Toys r us sold games, game consoles and tablets : p
Yes but it was only a small part of their business, plus most people don't buy that stuff from them because they can get it cheaper elsewhere.

It seems to me, gaming consoles and titles, are priced exactly the same everywhere, except Amazon, who is always cheaper.

I have to confess... I visit Toys R us about every 2 weeks to browse their toy car section since I collect diecast cars. And I never see more than a handful of customers inside the store. Even the parking lot is mostly empty...

I knew this was coming and was surprised they held out this long. Even during Christmas shopping season the store was not super busy... and this is a fairly new store in an upper-middle class neighborhood. I say that because I see cars like lambos and bentleys around there on a regular basis (not at toys r us, but at costco and on the road)

I meant amazon, but didn't want to get specific  Because then all the "amazon is evil" people will probably want to chime in...

Oh youre 100% right about that, but their entire catalog is known for costing more than any other business, haha.

Its mostly because of that millions of dollars worth of debt that was thrusted on them from their buyout. Seriously, even their candy cost more than any convenience store. They were known for being over priced.

I actually worked there for a few months long ago, and believe it or not, I ran into many diecast car collectors, haha. I even saw a fairly old looking man fill a basket with the new cars that came in : p

Cool! :) I only have about 20 cars in my collection, but I've been collecting them for several years.

I have it mostly for the streaming video and music service
Oh yea I forgot about that part.

The stores aren't closing due to greed, that's just the changing times. But that the employees will probably walk away with nothing while the CEOs part with millions, that's where the greed comes in.

But hey, I'm not going to change that. don't know why I try ;)
