‘God bless you’ now called ‘microaggression’ (source of text below)

(Washington Times) Telling a classmate “God bless you” after she sneezes is a “microaggression,” according to extensive social justice guidelines posted by a women’s college in Boston.

On its website, the Simmons College library lists six “anti-oppression” categories—“anti-racism,” “anti-transmisia,” “anti-ableism,” “anti-Islamomisia,” “anti-sanism” and “anti-queermisia”—with which students should be familiar.

“This guide is intended to provide some general information about anti-oppression, diversity, and inclusion as well as information and resources for the social justice issues key to the Simmons College community,” a description of the catalogue reads.

Why do we feel the necessity to ask God to bless someone who has just sneezed?

Re: Saying "God bless you" now listed as a microaggression by Boston college

For though I am free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law. To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. [1 Corinthians 9: 19-23]

We don’t have to worry about our liberty on the earth. Our liberty is secure in our hearts eternally in Christ Jesus. It’s not necessary to bully the world into serving Almighty God. Our testimony should be in our daily living, walking in a way that shines the light of Jesus, that they see God in us without us having to hammer them over the head with scriptures or with, “God bless you!”

If the world can’t see Jesus Christ alive in us by our character, our love toward others, and by our actions, there’s no way saying, “God bless you,” is going to bring them closer to God anyhow.

It’s the world’s reaction to being bullied by self-righteous Christians. They don’t recognize Christ’s love. They only see religious condemnation. All they hear is, “You’re wrong, you’re not good enough, you’re going to hell, you're not acceptable to God just as you are.”

Seriously, the world doesn’t know any better than to put a shield up to stop holier-than-thou folks from pointing at them with condemnation and hate. We as Christians don’t even like to be criticized or told we are in error. How can we think the world will accept correction from us when we're self-righteous and prideful and refuse to accept correction?

It’s like the alcoholics, thieves, drug addicts and prostitutes who spot the loud-speaking street preacher bounding up the block with his huge gold-embossed, leather-bound KJV study Bible opened at Exodus 20. Those sinners will make a run for it. They don’t want to be humiliated and condemned in public.

Yet those same sinners sought out Jesus, pushed thru the mob to reach Him, followed Him all over the place to get to know Him better, and humbled themselves asking Him how to be set free from the world. They cared more about being near Jesus than about what the world thought of them.

Because Jesus was the Light of the world to them. He still is... now through us. The world is still the same: it is blind and lost. The Lord is still the same: Light of the world, our Salvation. The plan of salvation is still the same: If Jesus be lifted up in us, He can draw all men unto Him.

I have a microaggression

it's when people blame Christians for the reactions of those who are not Christians

we are not all hypocrites and speaking of hypocrites, are their bigger ones than liberals?

bring on the puppies

i am told that it was at one time believed that demons entered through a person's mouth/nose etc when they sneezed.

and any person who says the magic words at the right time can prevent this and so prevent a case of sniffles from turning into something more serious, i.e. demonic possession.

then the practice worked its way naturally into polite society as simple courtesy.

oh that goes way back...the sneeze thing and I don't say God bless you when somebody sneezes

apparently, waaay back when, people believed the soul left the body when a person sneezed and the God bless you served to reconnect the soul with the body

another 'reason' it seems, is that Pope Gregory...of Medieval Times (no not the show) encouraged the populace to say God bless you during the plague in hopes they would be saved from ... the black death

Re: Saying "God bless you" now listed as a microaggression by Boston college

was there any recommendation for an 'appropriate' response to a nearby sneeze that would not be considered aggressive?

perhaps,

"COVER YOUR MOUTH!!!"

?

Truly, truly I say to you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a seed; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life will lose it, but whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

Re: Saying "God bless you" now listed as a microaggression by Boston college

we have Joy Behar, of 'the View' mocking the VP and then apologizing for doing so, because of his faith

the media even made fun of him because he said he would not have a meal in a restaurant with a woman other than his wife

these kinds of things indicate hatred that is not connected to how Christianity is perceived so much the spirit at work in the world...they see Christianity as the religion of 'nos' and if your mentality is liberal, that will goad you to being obnoxious to Christians

it's the spirit in the world continuing to war against God and lie about Him

youre not stupid

that word is

micro agression

is a term for people who want to tie being offended to the word "aggression"

that way they can claim victim status easier

many lost folk like to think (even some teachers)
if someone is micro-aggressive with you

it is only fair to retaliate with macro-aggression
(violence)

its a ridiculous term
with no value

passive aggressive already exists
and is less subjective

because you dont need to TRY to offend someone
for them to claim you were (micro) aggressive with them

maybe just because you wont call a man a woman
they want this to be looked at like a crime
equal to violence

You have a kind and peaceful heart auntie.

But do you really think all the litigation for over 50 years now over God, the bible and the name of Jesus is because the bulk of Christians are bullying and mean? Some are, like west borough, but then they prove by their hatred that they are NOT followers.
