Wow! This "Christian" site is letting these lighthearted, apathetic, hypocritical defenses of pornography stand?

Oh, my.

Of course, just because sometihing claims to be Christian doesn't mean it is. Barack Obama claims to be a Christian. So do Rick Warren, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, John Hagee, Billy Graham, Paul Washer, as did John Calvin, Martin Luther, etc..

"zero"-- First of all, get a serious animal picture, not one that implies we can manipulate animals.

Secondly, of COURSE we should ban that kind of pornography----and all other kinds!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't call yourself a Christian if you a) defend pornography or b) suggest that truth is up to a consensus.

We can debate all we want; our agreeing that something is right or wrong doesn't make it either. God's Word is absolute and never changes. We can become desensitized and change our beliefs, but again, our beliefs don't equate truth.
Dogma alert!

If you want to live in a theocratic country with internet censorship, you should first take a loot at countries like Iran, that country most Santorum voters hate so terribly.

"zero"--Get serious about life instead of being apathetic and irreverent and promoting evil. Don't claim to be Christians if you continue as you are.

"fidelis"-- First of all, don't call yourself a Christian if you're going to defend pornography, something not defended by our constitution, which indeed was founded upon God's Word.

Secondly, since truth is absolute and not relative/subjective, yes, one who knows the truth should indeed be dogmatic. Think about what you're saying.

"zero" and others---Weird? Pornography is weird, and "Christians" defending it sends an even-weirder message, hypocrites.

Of course, the "Church" today emulates MTV as opposed to being reverent and promotes pluralism as opposed to the gospel--- to a) attract more attendance and b) attract more money......but also to, yes, c) corrupt as many as possible and lead them to Hell, and yes, even Christians can go to Hell because salvation can indeed be lost.

Have I ever claimed to be a christian? No. Have I ever defended porn? No.

I think that free internet is more important than forbidding porn, since you will not fix the problem this way. Millions of computers are filled with porn, there's a gigantic number of dvd's and videotapes with porn. People will continue watching it anyway. Or do you want a porn police to infiltrate people's houses to look whether they are in possession of porn?

Hey now, I wouldn't be lumping Washer, Calvin, and Luther like that. Unless of course, you're a Catholic who believes all Protestants are going to hell.

I don't even pay close attention to my own words. o_O
lol yeah.

I am against porn of all types.

I just don't think Santorium shares my beliefs based on what he says.

it seems more politics then policy making.

you have to ask yourself HOW will he enforce the ALREADY existing laws.

I don't know why people are agrueing if hardcore porn should be illegal or not. just deal with the facts it IS illegal.

if you want to talk about the legal stuff then that is fine but that is not what the article is about or what Santorium has stated he would try and get rid of.

If the statement is NOT about making NEW laws banning all types of porn then the issue becomes about ENFORCEMENT which normally translates into Censorship.

Censoring porn is fine with me but what if people decide the next thing we should censor is religion because its too divisive.

sounds far fetch but a century ago would you have thought saying a prayer or reading your Bible in school would get you in trouble?

I would like to know what laws and policies and organization (which all take money) he would put in place to be cyber cops on porn. It sounds like it might mimic the war on drugs and everyone knows how well that is going.

I find it very sad that adults feel the need for this kind of thing. Yes, what 2 married adults do in the privacy of their own home is their business and gov. shouldn't be regulating it. But it seeps into the rest of your life, kids DO get access to it. Perhaps we shouldn't ban pornography but make it much MUCH harder to get. I opened my son's (17) email page (by accident, I assure you) and the background was 2 naked young women. It should be near impossible to find, see, view, etc., unless your an adult. What used to be considered porn is now on prime time tv, billboards and nearly every magazine on the stands. We are becoming so desensitized to what's publicly acceptable that one wonders where it will go next. Boys are already wearing their pants below their butts, so what's next, they do this WITHOUT the underwear?!?

Just to clarify what I said, the whole issue of banning Porn is complicated. And that's simply because as a NATION, not a DICTATORSHIP, we vote on issues. As Christians, we can vote and vote and vote on these issues, vote for our political leaders, etc. However, are nation has more then just Christians in it. We also have Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, Atheist. There are people in almost every major and minor religions and cults that vote, and they all have different beliefs and values. If our Nation were the Christian nation that obviously so many people want to believe it is, then the whole issue of pornography wouldn't even be an issue, because it wouldn't exist. However, because we are not that Christian Nation, but instead a nation filled with sinners, we will disagree and bump heads on many different things.

You can ban US based pornography websites easily, but that won't stop all the international based website unless we allow the government to filter the internet like China does. There are way more overseas legal websites and illegal pirating websites, which distribute pornography, than legal sites in the US. This would basically be an exercise in futility.

haha that's funny

people STILL think the US DOESN"T has a filter on the internet.

lets not look at the Homeland security act ok? might break up that illusion.

I seriously don't see how porn tears up people's homes/marriages.
I see all the time on here how someone's husbands are looking at pornography and they don't know what to do and they're heartbroken. They don't feel good enough for their husband...the husband is basically committing adultery looking at that pornography. And then some end up divorcing and it tears their home if they have children. Because the children are affected by the divorce...

That's how it tears up people's homes and marriages. Seriously...if there was a wife who was fine with their husband looking at pornography...they have SERIOUS issues.

It can also go the other way around

^ I wouldn't go as far to say that people who don't mind their spouse viewing porn have "serious issues" some couples have no problem with it.

They do have issues. It is due to an insensitivity and a lack of admittance of their unholy rebellion against a holy God. That, is a very serious issue.

Yup...I can agree with that one. We live in a broken world and pornography has made this world that much more broken.

I really don't like censorship at all. I'm a firm believer that as soon as we begin to take away freedoms from certain groups sooner or later they will come for ours as Christians (which will happen sooner or later). However, I'm all for this. Far too many women and children have fallen prey to sexual predators that were birthed out of pornography. Although, it will be very hard considering can find anything on the internet and it is global.

I don't understand... porn is a bad thing, yet some people voted no? Surely it would be great if it was illegal, or... hardcore illegal...?

WWJD?
