christ will come like a thief in the night...he doesn't follow any convenient eschatological schedule people choose to believe in...
the 7,000 year thing lends itself naturally to date setting...and historically it has been used to justify just that...if you compute the date of creation and then add 7,000 years as many have done in the past...you can set an unscriptural date for the second coming of christ...

Revelation 13:
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
The beast we read of is the second beast, that arises after Rome receives her mortal wound. John Wesley stated that this beast had not yet arisen. This beast is believed by many to be the USA. Personally I agree with this view. The USA shall cause the entire world to worship Rome. The scripture I selected describes America perfectly. This is the first time in history where such a feat is truly possible.
I do appreciate you changing my Biblical Paradigm tonight regarding Amillennialism. If only I could offer you the same blessing that you might clearly see the:

the horns of a lamb show that this beast has the outward appearance of christ...it is a professing christian religious institution...
speaking like a dragon shows that this beast is the mouthpiece of satan...it teaches satanic doctrines...
so what we are looking at is an apostate religion...a satanic institution disguised as the christian church...the antichrist church...
this beast first rose at the end of the new testament era...when the antichrist apostasy began...it continues to this day...
