A good luck into Obama's Christianity and why the Religious right doubts it.

The Gospel according to Obama – CNN Belief Blog - CNN.com Blogs

My favorite part: Obama talked about his approach to the Bible:

“Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is OK and that eating shellfish is abomination? How about Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount – a passage that is so radical that it’s doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application?”

Obama completely disregards that Jesus's work on the cross fulfills the old testament.

Also, considering the teachings of Jesus to be radical? I suppose it is radical by worldly standards, certainly not radical to those who consider themselves followers of Jesus.

Jesus certainly has radical ideas when compared to the form of christianity ascribed to by the religious right.

And also most people ignore the general teachings of jesus and instead just go for the feel good get saved, be good aspect. Then they just pick and choose verses that maintain the status quo rather than anything i would remotely call christianity.

Again, his teachings aren't radical to those who consider themselves followers of Christ. Not sure where the relevance of the religious right falls in, your quote shows Obama is the one directly calling the passage radical.

I agree, many people pick and choose what they want to follow, and many pervert the truth, but that's not a left/right issue, it's a human issue, and oftentimes a lack of spiritual discernment.

His personal brand of Christianity doesn't appear to be scriptural...to be fair, mormon doctrine is in no way scriptural either, if you look at Romney, but that's not what the article or your quote was about.

Ummmm you realize the only reason you dont find the teachings of jesus radical, is because its something you know and follow. Have you ever considered taking a step outside yourself and applying the sermon of the mount to how the rest of this country lives? Its a pretty radical difference....

If you don't consider Jesus' teachings radical, you're not following them correctly.

Jesus preached for each of us to do a "metanoia," a complete 180-degree turn, totally away from the old and into the new. That is radical.

That's why the priests and pharisees didn't like him.

That's why a lot of religious leaders and political leaders today still don't like him.

And if you think you can have Jesus and just stay safe and comfy in your same little world without changing anything, then you're mistaken and in for a wake-up call.

Ok, I'll bite.

Name one Christian belief Obama holds that you think goes against Scripture. Just one.
