The HIV virus has long been talked about as being the "Gay disease". Well, of course we now know that it isn't exclusively confined to Gays as many Heterosexual people throughout the world have HIV and more are unfortunately getting it all the time. The surprising thing is that Lesbians are one group of people who appear to be fairly immune from this dreadful disease!

But what is most surprising is that HIV is now being used to cure leukaemia according to this article that has made headlines around the world! And who would have ever thought it possible to use this Virus that many have called "the wrath of God against Gays" to actually help SAVE lives! It is certainly true that God Works In Mysterious Ways!

HIV is a virus. It's no punishment. Earthquakes happen not cause of God's wrath but because of the physics he put into making this world. Things like these are why I have troubl bcoming a christian.

From where did you get the information that lesbians are immune from HIV virus??

HIV virus as far as I read, study and understand do not discriminate anyone on the basis of gender, caste, creed, age, race, nationality, or geography; they infect anyone and everyone that comes in contact with its way of transmission viz- unprotected sex with infected person, sharing of infected syringes, receiving infected blood transfusion, infected mother to child transmission, etc. I have never heard of lesbian or any other group of people who are immune to HIV infection.

Ah good, at least I have got the conversation going by my word choice. The terms who appear (to be) "fairly immune" actually makes reference to Lesbians being at a Lower Risk to contracting HIV or AIDS compared to other groups. Of course if one goes out actively seeking to get AIDS no doubt they may be successful though some people's immune systems, science has pointed out and informed us, are healthy enough that they can resist the virus just as some can resist other viruses. But by and large Lesbians are at a lower risk due to their behavior for contracting the disease unless they share contaminated needles or engage in higher risk behavior which is not generally known to be the case with that group of women.

Here is where I first heard it from: Do lesbians have a lower risk of contracting HIV?
http://www.collegemagazine.com/editorial/1646/Do-lesbians-have-a-lower-risk-of-contracting-HIV

There are other websites with this same type of information.

What does this matter?
It matters because medicine is now Progressing and finding cures for diseases formerly thought to be incurable.

We simply cannot discount the fact that medical science has informed us that the HIV virus that causes AIDS is now the apparent miraculous panacea to certain cancers! Others, besides this girl, have also received this treatment with Great Results! Let's put our prejudice aside. We must pray that soon we can eradicate any cancer with procedures such as this that can Save Many Lives!

HeavenlyWarrier, I think thats quite interesting.. Was wondering. if these people who were cured will have to worry about contracting the virus itself. or if the cure only used parts of the virus..

If it is miraculous. it is just curious. the scripture:

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose..

could very well be working in these people.. they may not be christians.... yet!! but maybe they are called to his purpose.. just a thought.. :)

Always looking for the posibilities.. !!!

the virus had been disabled and was used mainly to help 'rewrite' the helper-t cells.

I don't know how you understood '"immunity" but I have always understood "immunity" in the context of human body vis-a-vis infection as the ability to resist infections (bacteria, virus, fungus, etc, etc). For instance, monkeys are IMMUNE to HIV virus, so even if they are injected with HIV virus, they will not get AIDS. That being said, I have never read about any social group of people that are "fairly immune" or just immune to HIV virus. It may happened in the rarest of rare cases among individuals but not among a social group of people like lesbians in general.

But from the link that you provided and also from your explanation, looks like you meant to say lesbians have lower risks of contracting HIV virus and NOT IMMUNE (fairly).

Yes, there are some 'social group' of people such as IDUs', MSM, CSW/FSW who are relatively at a higher risks for HIV infection than 'others' as they tend to indulge in risky behaviour by which HIV virus is transmitted otherwise, human beings in general are not immune to HIV virus (at least not any that I am aware of).

My explanation was already given as to my 'word choice' in the matter designed to first solicit responses. Did you not read it? There was however, no misunderstanding about what I was going to say as further discourse as soon as a response was received. There's no further need to beleaguer this point.

Well then I've got News for you! Actually there ARE some groups of people who are immune such as 10% of Caucasians and some Kenyan women, etc. It's in their genes. You need to go back and re-read my earlier posting in response to you. You will also find that I said " .... though some people's immune systems, science has pointed out and informed us, are healthy enough that they can resist the virus just as some can resist other viruses." Here I was making reference to those who are apparently immune to the disease as pointed out in the following two great websites.

Hi Faithful! I believe Nautilus has given a good answer to that. :)

Yes! It appears that the HIV virus that may be found in some whom others may call by derogatory names due to their sexual orientation may very well be on its way to becoming the Miraculous Panacea to some Cancers!

Thank you for that Scripture! And yes, God could very well be working through some Homosexual people and others who may have HIV disease, as a CURE for the very people who despise and chastise Gays who may at some point be ill themselves with some form of Cancer, as a way to teach them a lesson about the prejudice and condemnation of those whom they do not understand! And He could also, as you say, be working with Non-Christians with HIV disease to show them the miraculous power of God. That's why the subject name of this posting.

I do however, wonder if any of those who still oppose those with AIDS and HIV disease would become ill themselves with Cancer and would find themselves having to make a decision as to whether to use this treatment or not, if they would do it in order to save their own life thereby possibly carrying remnants of the disease of a Gay person or another, whom they so despised, forever in their body?

Warm greetings, Shrimp -- For the answer to your question, please go to the main article found at: Girl, 7, beats leukaemia with revolutionary treatment using HIV virus to re-wire her immune system | Mail Online and scroll down to the dark blue box entitled "THE PIONEERING THERAPY THAT REWIRES THE IMMUNE SYSTEM TO FIGHT CANCER" and read the short seventh paragraph (in lighter blue). Thanks for your question!

Hi again, Shrimp, Actually, it is not even a paragraph, it is a short sentence which should make it even easier for you and others to look at and find your answer! :)
