Teacher Fired for Giving Student Bible | FOX News & Commentary: Todd Starnes <--- clickity click

Tutka’s trouble started in Octoboer when he was standing by a door waiting on middle school students to enter the building. One student trailed behind the rest.

“Just remember, son,” Tutka told the tardy student, “The first shall be last but the last shall be first.”
A few days later the student asked about the origins of the quote. Tutka told him it was in the Bible.

“Over the next few weeks, the young student asked about a half dozen times where the quote was from in the Bible,” Imhof told Fox News. “Walt kept forgetting to look it up.”

On Oct. 12th, Tutka was eating lunch in the cafeteria when the student approached and brought up the Bible verse. So Tutka took out his Bible and showed the student the verse.

At some point the student mentioned that he did not have a Bible.

“Walt basically said, ‘would you like mine?” Imhof said. “The student said yes and so Walt gave him his personal New Testament.”

A little extreme it seems...

That's sad. I hope someone else hires him. It can only get worse for this type of "misconduct" or what ever they call it.

I don't like it. Unless a teacher is going to be fired for giving a student a copy of the Iliad then I don't think this teacher should be fired.

I guarantee that teacher wouldn't have gotten fired for giving the kid a Koran or a Kama Sutra, but a dangerous Bible that could warp the kid's mind, LOL. Mercy, the school sure couldn't let that happen! When are we going to stand up and refuse to submit to such ungodly, politically correct crap?

I know one of my teachers in junior high got in trouble for keeping a Qur'an on her desk. She didn't make a fuss about it and just didn't have it in the room anymore. It always bothered me a bit because my English teacher had Bibles in the room but she never seemed to get in trouble for it. I really don't think either should be getting in trouble since neither of them were promoting these beliefs. Plus I think that the Bible and the Qur'an should be taught in schools, but it would get pretty difficult to do. I would still be worried about some teachers using it as an opportunity to promote one religion, or religious sect, over another.

I wonder how long it will be, before, the many will have the courage to speak to the silent and hidden discrimination that is occurring in this country.

For what was wrong has now become right, and right has become the wrong.

God bless

May we take a look at this from the schools point of view.

First of all the school system is responsible for thousands and thousands of screaming little brats. They need to have their heads examined just for doing that.

If this teacher had handed a Christian child a Ouran we'd be here with pitchforks and clubs.
I can even see some folks getting upset because the teacher didn't give the child the correct version of bible.

The law is there for "ALL" religions not just to bash Christianity. The teacher knew the policy, or law and broke it. The laws are there to protect the school. I can't immagine all religions being taught in school.

Here in New York State the children can pray, discuss God, hand out information (including bibles) in school durring their own time. The teachers or administrators can't push religion but the students can.

Are we missing the point that it is up to us to get the ball rolling?????
