"He is also the first non-European pope in more than 1,200 years and the first member of the Jesuit order to lead the church"

"the cardinals sent a powerful message that the future of the church lies in the global south, home to the bulk of the world’s Catholics" - as we know, the south Americans are more passionate about Catholicism than anyone else in the world. It's part of their culture. Rome's majority support is from South America. Ooh, what a tactical move on their part.

The Jesuits are no longer the Shock Troops of the Catholic church like they used to be.

Yeah, especially this one. A good friend of mine who would like very much to be a shock trooper is rather upset with their choice to say the least.

Awesome!

A very humble and holy man. As Archbishop in Buenos Aires he refused a personal chauffeur and rather rode the public bus every day to his office, cooked all his own meals, and worked tirelessly for the poor.

Yesterday, after his first public appearance as pope then he made a special trip to personally pay his hotel bill where he stayed during the conclave. The Swiss Guard (popes body guards) are gonna have a tough time staying in front of this pope.

As Archbishop of Buenos Aires, he preferred to be called Father Jorge, and was known for his preoccupation with the city’s poorest, reportedly washing and kissing the feet of patients suffering from Aids.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for giving us this humble servant of Christ to lead your apostles and all of your disciples in your Holy Church.

Glory to God in the highest!

The Catholic Church will put pressure on the U.S. to engage in more massive deficit spending and amnesty. It will tank the U.S. way of life without solving any of the problems in central and south America imo. I view it as a very bad thing for my nation. I wish they had elected the Italian Cardinal who would have cleaned up the bureaucracy. This is just going to cause my nation to fail faster.

Yes seriously. And the cultural Marxists that control public education are now advocating that Caucasian students wear white armbands to remind themselves and everyone else of their evil "white privilege." White stars on clothing may follow.

you....have GOT to be kidding.....
this is right out of the Soviet manual.
well, they can forget that junk.

you know, they really do follow through.
they did it then, in Russia, and they'll do it again.
they said they would, and they are doing it.
and we let them - because they have been posing as some other ppl.
and we don't seem to notice.

the Jesuits are Counter-Reformers, and militant.
they burn with desire to crash/dismantle the Lutheran church specifically, and erase the Reformation, all Reformed churches.

watch for a ramping up of "Liberation Theology" in Latin America.

And further fuel for same here in the Philippines, which is a Jesuit stronghold as well.

Erase the Reformation? Isn't it much too late for that? I don't think even the most ardent Catholics would willingly plunge into another Dark Age.

Maybe God is the tactician.

Infiltration of protestant churches... and it's already happening. This is why the protestant world is such a mess.

There will be a falling away, which is already happening.

Sharing news makes me bitter and angry?

Anyone that loves truth will reject that which is in opposition.

Although I have my differences in views with the Catholic church, I really like this new pope's outlook so far. He seems to have very good intentions and is humble. God willing, I hope he stays true to himself. I think this man can make a lot of good needed changes. May God guide him rightly!

I wish we called our churches Christian - not Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Baptist......I think God is sad we are so divided. Just think how much more effective we would be if we were not divided. :(

We are all divided because of infiltration in the churches, unfortunately, as I see it.

Not all churches teach the same one true gospel. The gospel is the most important one to get right. No one can compromise on truth for the sake of unity.

For all who are born again of God, we are of the same spirit, part of the body of Christ. We are spiritual family.

Non salvation related differences, like eschatology, for example, is one of many reasons for division. Each choose to be in a denomination that shares their same views. It does get complicated for non believers to understand because they can't identify which one is right, as there are so many. Catholic doctrine has crept it's way into the protestant churches, using different names.

I'm non denominational.

The ecumenical movement is bad. What you see there is a lot of people all uniting together, despite their beliefs. Many Pagans, Buddhists, Hindus, etc.

God comes first, not man.

2 Timothy 1:13-14: "Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us"
