Earlier this week, my facebook feed had an uprising of disgruntled conservatives and Christian liberals who never want to have anything to do with homosexuals. It happened that Starbucks CEO gave a speech about the company's investment benefits and the recent amount they have payed shareholders. Anyway, it obviously got out the the public the wrong way and immediately the conservatives community and especially Christians who are not in support of the LGTBs took to the pages of facebook and gave a little bit of protests. You may read about the explanation the CEO of Starbucks gave to address this issue here.
After reading this article I realized that the conservative community are just always quickly uptight about anything that sounds favorable to homosexuals. They don't want to hear any other thing that follows, they just take it up and make a big deal out of it.
Yes, as a Christian, I believe homosexuality is a sin, the Bible condemns it, and I'm yet to see anything in the Bible to convince me that those who practice such will go to heaven. Imagine homosexuals in heaven. Hmm...can't imagine? Me too.
However, I guess we should preach the gospel of Christ's dying love and His saving grace. Let homosexuals do whatever they want to do. Apparently, every single one of them knows that a large majority of Christians are not in their favor, because we believe the Bible condemns such act. So if that be the case, that they've got knowledge about our view on homosexuality based on what we believe the Bible says about it, then I think it'll be sort of lousy on our part to keep inconveniencing them with our petty protests. They'll be right to say we're trying to shove religion down their throats.
Initially, during the week, when this issue was hot and tensed, I took what I heard and ran off with it. I wrote an article, three pages long to state my opinion about the stand I assumed Starbucks took. I was also guilty of getting into my opinion box without fully understanding what exactly was the issue on ground. Sadly but true, rumors travel faster than truth.
I believe one truth we can all hold unto and always remember [WHICH IS KEY] is this: God loves sinners but hates the sin!
