The SB5, which was the issue in Texas today, has been officially killed. This bill would have banned abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy and forced many clinics that performed the procedure to upgrade their facilities and be classified as ambulatory surgical centres. If it had passed, abortion would have been virtually banned in the state of Texas, and many women would have been forced to resort to dangerous and unsafe measures.

Friendly reminder this has more to do with the government's unlawful and unjust decisions than it has to do with women's rights. Senator Wendy Davis had to stand for 13 hours without any restroom breaks, meals, drinks, or even physical support in this filibuster. And when the allotted time for the filibuster ended at midnight, congressmen signed the bill anyway. Fortunately, the pass did not last very long. Following a period of loud protest from the people in the gallery, the bill was killed.

Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will be deciding whether or not Proposition 8 is unconstitutional, which is quite a ridiculous topic to be debated seeing as it says clearly in the Constitution:

All persons born or naturalised in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Today was an excellent day. Tomorrow will be just as crazy.
Seeing as there was very little coverage of these issues, I thought I would help spread this to every social website I know.

Sadly as important as these issues are in some cases, a lot of the regular peanut gallery wont mention them because it shows the world progressing and they are against it.
