It seems the Zimmerman trial and subsequent not guilty verdict has caused some upheaval in our country, socially and probably politically. Stars banning Florida, celebrities calling for riots, Mr and Mrs Zimmerman, George's parents, unable to go home for fear of their lives and many arguements with racial overtones.

Is this just the divisive nature of man...or has there been a defining sociological moment exposed by the trial's outcome?

To me, liberalism has been defined as the racist, bankrupt ideology it is.

The news media portraying Trayvon Martin as some innocent little boy.

The purposeful and criminal withholding of evidence by the prosecution and the arrest without evidence.

While the trial did not contain racist evidence at all, the left in this country has tried to make this a racial event. The Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons, I know that is their jobs to sow racial dischord but, they do have an effect.

Not that I have talked to many african americans about this trial, but so far every one has called it a travesty. Is this small sample indicative of the ideology of african americans? Not only was there little or no evidence against Zimmerman, evidence was witheld, criminally that was on Zimmerman's favor. The trial's evidence was for Zimmerman's innocence, but..

Zimmerman was a racist ( no proof and I kinda thought if you voted for Obama, which Zimmerman did, you could not be a racist...or maybe that was if you voted against him that proved you were, I get the ignorance and bigotry mixed up sometimes )

Divisive or definitive?

This is so insane, it is almost like watching a cable TV mini series. Scandal would be a good name for it. The family has called for Obama to step in and investigate and He in return has sent his (best right hand man), Eric Holder AKA Fast and Furious to investigate. It will be a sad day for America if the judicial system is over turned by the president because of protesting. Some how this does not surprise me.......

I posted this in the other thread, but I figured it would be a good time to re-post.

As Christians, we know God is the ultimate arbiter of justice. No one will get away with anything, ultimately. Anyone from Eric Holder to Zimmerman to the thug at the near-riot in California who stole that man's bicycle just because he could. Justice will be served, praise God.

The facts in the trial clearly and without question proved justice was served.

Just for the record, I'm not saying that Zimmerman needs to be punished by God. My only point is that justice will ultimately be served by God Himself.

I wouldn't say definitive so much as emblematic.

Obama started this whole thing. Obama is a RACIST! He paid people to go out and protest against white people who stand their ground. He hates whites.

I think this Zimmerman thing is pretty ridiculous... There was no way he'd be found guilty of second degree murder on the evidence they had. It was wishful thinking from the very beginning. Im sure he was guilty of something but on a much lesser charge... they make it out like he, in cold blood, went up and killed an innocent boy because he was black. It was clear from the recordings before the killing this was not the case. And there was no way you could prove otherwise. I think it could have been avoided yes if Zimmerman didn't play cop but being an overzealous wannabe is not what he was on trial for. And misjudgment that leads to a confrontation where the "suspected thug" attacks you and you shoot him, doesn't equal second degree murder at all. It was complete wishful thinking. Manslaughter they could have possibly made a case of but even that would be hard to pull.

Anyway, in the end, it was the justice system at work. We know it doesn't work perfectly and sometimes the bad have gotten away and the good have gotten jail or worse unjustly. But it's what we have. It's in the constitution that EVERYONE has a fair trial. A fair trial is judge and jury, defense and prosecution. What we have is the equivalent of the 1600s witch hunts. The mob has decided he is guilty... so whether he is guilty or not, it no longer matters. Justice system? Who needs it when the people decide?

Well I do know one thing, I've seen a lot of so called 'pro-life' people cheering on the killing of a child this week.

You can blame liberalism all you want, but it seems the gun loving, racist, right wing set up all the dominoes for this one.

I haven't seen any christian thinking this event was anything but a tragedy....its just the left in this country, who ALWAYS see race, has condemned a man for being racist, who was not.

Its not ideology, its the truth. The ideology on display here is not conservatism, its the outright bigotry, ignorance of trial fact and hatred by the left.

Look at the statements of the left...

Zimmerman was a racist or racially profiled......no evidence of either at trial.

Stand your ground law challenged and ''exposed'' as a bad law by this trial....stand your ground was not even a part of the trial evidence.

One word comes to mind, propaganda.

This was a case in which 'political correctness' was the prosecutor and surprisingly lost a round.

I believe in the O J Simpson murder trial,
(which was on t v for the whole world to see)
they should have found him guilty and threw away the key!
.................BUT WAIT!.....................
He was found innocent in a jury trial!

George Zimmerman was found innocent in a jury trial,
on t v for the whole world to see.

OJ is black and was on trial. Zimmerman is hispanic.

The evidence in OJ's trial should have convicted him The evidence in the Zimmerman not only did not convict him, there wasn't enough to arrest him.

Zimmerman acted in self defence. This was not even an issue in the OJ trial.

The only comparison between the two was the left wing bigotry. Ya got me on that one.

Man, I hate it when pro-life people cheer on the killing of a child! Where have you seen that? Because I haven't seen it one single time.

And just so we're clear, are you calling right-wingers racists, or do you just mean something like, "those right-wingers who also happen to be racists"?

When there is no substance to your beliefs/ideologies, the only way to defend them is to attack your opposition personally.

Unfortunately, it works.

As a white male, I have a perspective of the Zimmerman trial that is different from the black community. I talked to a few black acquaintances and mentioning the Zimmerman trial, it is evident that they feel this trial far more deeply than white America does. I have tried to understand things from thier perspective and was unable to, until I heard President Obama gave a speech that helped me under stand my fellow Black americans a little bit better.

Here is what he said. Scroll down and click on the video.
The full Obama speech on Trayvon Martin and race in America (VIDEO)

I really hate racism and hope someday we can stop judging each other on skin color. America will be a better place when that happens.
