To be fair I find atheists have a wide range of temperments.

I find that a lot of these extreme angry Atheists come from families of extremely literalist fundamentalist Christian cults. Everything is black and white. So once they liberate themselves from Christianity, they bring that extreme black and white thinking into Atheism. I wish some wisdom and actual Holy spirit existed in their life.

There is no 'Christian cult'. Either you are Christian or not.

that's another topic. whether they are saved or not, or can they be classified as church or not.
What i wanna say is, if you think one organization is a cult, then say they are cult. or at the least, cult who claim to be Christians.
'Christian' and 'Church' are the bride of Christ, and therefore is a serious term.

So you see no difference between Westboro Baptist church and a local Methodist church?
The UMC typically is okay with homosexuality being declared a legitimate lifestyle whereas WBC doesn't. As far as the Gospel is concerned, I'm not sure there is a difference.

same with my dad who still clings to Darwin's dust. He signed me up to a Scientific American subscription (without my knowing) after I had given him a bible on our last visit. Still got humor.

lol....i sent my dad a 'mildly' christian song (youtube) via txt.
he txt'd back...i think you sent this to the wrong person:(

but - if at first, you don't succeed....my mom is in hospice right now.
captive audience - she remembers "Jesus loves me"; the 23rd Psalm and a little of The Lord's prayer.
kinda trails off at forgive us our sins.

Its nearly always goes unspoken that there's no need to defend Atheism, or Christianity, they simply are -- they exist, they are concepts (and a lack of concept). I wouldn't say he's 'defending atheism', more-so making a sloppy anti-theistic argument.

I saw this quite a while ago and was surprised how long it took before someone posted it here.
To have that guy associated to me, I just want to drag him away by the collar.

well he was clearly disturbed/distraught.

Satan's been working on that one for awhile. He's greatly deceived, totally lost, and his immorality and drug addictions appear to have unhinged him mentally somewhat.

If he came up to me like that back in the days when I WAS NOT a Christian, he would have been flat on his back holding his jaw.

It is BECAUSE OF THE LOVE AND TOLERANCE OF CHRIST, that I would not physically hurt him (as long as he didn't physically pose a risk to me or anyone present via assaulting us and even then I would only seek to restrain/stop him until the police arrived) but instead try to get through to him if possible.

It's sad to see the classically liberal value of tolerance degenerate so badly under modern "progressive" liberalism.

Tolerance used to mean “to recognize and respect [others’ beliefs, practices, etc.] without sharing them,” and “to bear or put up with [someone or something not especially liked].”

However, the new modern liberal definition of tolerance is based on the unbiblical belief that “truth is relative to the community in which a person participates. And since there are many different human communities, there are necessarily many different truths.”

Essentially, the new tolerance tacitly teaches that a person’s behavior, beliefs and attitudes are inseparable from who he or she is as an individual and community participant. Thus, to attack that person’s beliefs or actions is tantamount to attacking them personally.

That's why so many in this lost generation want to curb freedom of speech and persecute everyone that disagrees with them as this man obviously stated he wants to do instead of have a discussion.

Tragic.

I agree, but it's 20% what you say and 80% how you say it.

i think, as well AoK, that the extreme position(s) of the guy in the video - hedonism basically - are clearly not serving him as he hoped they would.
all his reasons "why" are scripted. hence his confusion. not even his own thoughts.
i see clearly he is upset - i believe it's precisely because his mantra is probably not his own.

that kind of 'freedom' really is slavery. Crowley et al knew that.

Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Whole of The Law sounded appealing after a decade of cultural revolution (brainwashing).
but at least in my neck of the woods i see young people looking to get away from that.
they're looking for stability and cultural norms they inherently know are "better".

young women saying out loud among their friends that they will be married rather than co-habitate, etc.
it's interesting...because as soon as one has the courage to take that bridal magazine to lunch - the friends initial scoffing turns to a kind of relief - it's as though they've received "permission" of some kind to stop with the angry (and lonely) rebellion.

(i live in a small village - i see things:rolleyes:)

I would not call westboro baptist christian by any stretch of the imagination. Hatred and bigotry is part of the gospel of Christ
