Syria's Christian community has faced growing violence. A senior Church leader in Syria has said almost a third of the country's Christians have fled their homes.

In Syria’s war, bishops have been kidnapped and priests have been killed. When the fighting last month reached the ancient town of Maaloula — where residents still speak Aramaic, the language of Jesus — it struck at the heart of Syria’s Christian community. Many at the monastery say they are pinning their hopes on obtaining European visas, citing doubts that there will ever be a day that Syria can offer security to its minorities, at least in rebel-held areas.

“The Christians are never going back,” said Johnny Chamoun, 42, also from Ras al-Ayn, who works at the monastery coordinating assistance for Syrian Christian refugees.

Both Muslims and Christians are being killed. It is all about power nothing else.

RT: Do you think they treat Orthodox Christians with deliberate, selective cruelty? They did kill the Catholics as well.

EK: It’s a difficult question. We don’t know what’s on their mind in terms of this issue. Not all of the insurgents are acting this way. There are some decent rebels representing the good Syrians. But those performing such atrocities are mere terrorists who do not recognize any religion. They don’t even recognize Muslims. We don’t know what their objective is. But we see that the very existence of Christians in the East is now jeopardized.

RT: Who has an interest in forcing Christians to flee from the East?

EK: These are terrorist groups that act on behalf of Al Qaeda. And these groups have been mushrooming: there’s Jabhat al–Nusra, there’s the ISIL and others. And they all consist of radical militants who oppose everyone, including Muslims. Anyone who thinks differently must be killed, first and foremost Christians, they say. And new groups keep emerging.

Both sides of the Syrian civil war are destructive. Unfortunately the U.S. is siding with the rebels when we should stay out of something in which neither side is better than they other. They both are waging terror.

i wonder why?
who is calling the shots?

i like Obama a LOT BETTER since he pulled out of that insanity...and is now attempting negotiations and diplomacy.
2nd term Prez with nothing left to lose (except through blackmail or assassination) can be a dangerous thing to those who installed him....we've seen it before - a Prez who tries to break from the oligarchy.

course, i could be just up too early and have too much coffee in me.
or maybe i've been watching Rob Ford performing...Obama looks awesome compared to that guy.

We heard about this in church this week and prayed for them. It is tragic the way people assault one another in the name of God.

So he just sat back and left them die?

Everyone in the history of the world has died. Excepting Enoch. What do you object to, exactly?

"It is appointed unto a man once to die, and then the judgement."

No, this does make the Lord angry. Here is what he says:
Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

He has an appointed time to come back. The Lord is sitting at the right hand of the Father right now, however, the only time he stood up is when Stephen was being stoned.
[SUP]56 [/SUP]And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
