So what does their reaction to taking on these refugee children tell us?
It tells us liberals/progressives are fine with "spreading the wealth around", and helping others out, until it hits their own wallet and resources.

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– Governor Malloy has long been a major supporter of President Obama but he has delivered a big “No” to a request to bring thousands of Central American Children to Connecticut.
Maryland: Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley told CNN in an interview that he asked the White House to not send the minor immigrants to a site in western Maryland that was under consideration.
He won Maryland by 22% in 2012.
