Yup, our nation's educators have clasified chapstick as a drug, at least at a school in Texas this is happening.

How redicules have we become, that children in a grade school have to gather signatures, and fight to be allowed to use chapstick.
I guess the school sees chapstick as a dangerous drug, so it can only be administered by the school nurse.

I dont know what else to say....
Im sad for the children though.

God bless

I found a case going back to 2008, apparently all over the counter drugs are banned from school, and due to a zero tollerance policy they ban chapstick... So my question is: if caffeine is a drug, why are teachers aloud to have it in the school buildings... I have personally seen some of my teachers use this over the counter drug in the class room... THE HORROR! Not to mention in high school this is the second most popular over the counter drug, only trumped by sugar...

Zero tolerance... We have to tell the schools about all these criminals using these banned substances!!!...

This is just retarded...

Okay I just found this article...

Chapstick might become the new bath-salts...
Teenagers Using Lip Balm to Feel Like Getting High In Bizarre New Trend

However many other (credible) sites are deeming this as fake.
I believe it is a fake, as I have family members who job it is to know this kind of thing.
Although I have seen where chapstick is a good fire starter in a emergency situation.

As for zero tolerance, I see it as one of the most damaging policies implemented in our schools. :(
No to drugs, guns, ect... but when a kid gets kicked our of school for because the way he ate a gram cracker made it look like a gun?... Nuts!

God bless

zero tolerance means zero chance for a lawsuit. because that what schools are guarding themselves against. when I was in high school in north Georgia ( 88-91) a bunch of us guys would deer hunt before school. there were many guns in the parking lot every day. no one brought them inside. they would have called the national guard out if this happened in today's world.

This is what happens when lawyers run the country.

More laws. After a while there are no sane reasons for a law so they go and make stuff up.

You wanted big government.......how's that workin' for ya???

Maybe you have to smoke it? Or rub it in your eyes, I don't know.

Oh the humanity of it all those poor waifs and their red chapped lips. What ever shall become of them?

I thought it was Vaseline that people put on their eyes.

And for the record, it always sounded like a really bad idea...

To think that after all these years I am now a drug addict. I just love that smooth, warm feel of my dry, cracked lips getting soothed! I even use the high priced stuff for the extra kick!

i don't know how I am going to give up this drug habit! Pray for me! LOL

I just figured this out! Instead of OTC, they can make Chapstick by prescription, charge $100 a tube, and make big bucks off of it! I wonder how I can get in on the ground floor with this business opportunity!?

Use EOS instead. You get alot more than with chapstick, AND its all natural ingredients which means you can lick your lips without ingesting petroleum jelly!! yay lol. I use the EOS brand ONLY. It's about $3 or $4 dollars at Rite-Aid. :)

No Rite-Aids in Canada! I sometimes use Burt's bees, but it hardens quickly! Besides, I have 100% drug coverage, so it would be free if it was prescription! I actually have Sjorgren's Syndrome, which causes the tissues of the body to dry out. I will be covered!

Sounds like something they would try to ban in Singapore. The difference being that in Singapore the government would resort to caning offenders instead of putting them through years of counseling.
