Triumph of Will

I saw a triumph of will that I thought was my own
When I looked upon the face of God
and went out on my own

I saw a duel purpose in what it meant for me
but I was young, and carefree
had a whole life in front of me

In the strength of my youth
with a pinch of my brow
I took a gander at the cross
and wagged my head somehow

thought I had some time
to do it my own way
then if it needed be
I could make up at the end of my days
