To have the talent of making wrong choices
Is not absurd, of all the possibilities that offends,
Should we not choose our biggest vices?

Sometimes it’s small, like buying wrong devices
sometimes it’s people and making the wrong friends
Oh how we choose to ignore their biggest vices!

Among the things we regret in a crisis -
Words for which we can’t make amends,
I thank my talent of making wrong choices

This is how I start – by raising my voice
Ignore everyone else, my blindness sends
A peace, I mean was blind faith ever a vice?

If I win the battle, should I count the losses?
Are words eternal? It’s all a means to ends,
We were truly born to make wrong choices

The only thing that makes it possible to mend-
-Love- (it can help with the words, my friend)
You’ll find yourself stopping at the wrong choices
For to hurt the one you love is the biggest of all vices.

for a couple of weeks i've been scanning this forum,
wondering, where, oh, where is my Rachel? :)

this poem reminds me of a sermon i once heard entitled
'Don't waste your sin'.
which sounds. just. horrible. right?

but what the pastor was saying was, if you have sinned (and you have!),
let God use it to make someone else feel less alone and afraid and shamed (share it...raise your hand!).
let God use it to showcase His glory in the forgiveness we have in Christ!
we tend to want to present ourselves as oh, so clean and competent
 ,
but it's Jesus who's Clean and Competent for us. :)

so we lift our voices to praise You, Lord Jesus.
thank You for being everything, for giving everything so that we,
who had nothing, could be with YOU.
thank You for making us more and more like Your Son, Gracious Father.
because You put love in our hearts for You, we never want to offend You. ♥
let the words of our mouths and the thoughts of our hearts
be acceptable in Your sight. amen.

beautifully done, Rachel. but should the comment (mine) be longer than the poem?? :p
love, love, love,
ellie

Thank you so much for reading it Gus and the compliment!

Villanelle as a form of poetry, though idyllic, I find is fairly unknown to most people. It's strict form allows it to be precise like a science and at the same time provide for the ability to create a rhythmic refrain that could be beautifully haunting. :)

I am glad you enjoyed it.

Ellie, how do you do this?

You have always been able to express the vision behind whatever I write, and express it so beautifully!

Thank you so much for putting that perspective of Jesus as being competent and clean for us , and us as the ones who give company to one another to let each other know we are not alone. Thank you for that wonderful prayer.

I do not come to ChristianChat very often - if I were very frank, some of it's sheen has been lost on me...

However when I do come back, the one person whose posts continue to inspire, touch and encourage me are yours.

Thank you so much for always taking the time to read my writings and caring! I am honoured that you post on my poems and you truly are a treasure here.

I value your comments so much - I am so gratified whenever you post!

I absolutely love you Ellie.

May God bless you and your family abundantly always!

many, many rich blessings to you and yours also. :)

i think i'm just so old...and have read and listened to so many wise people.

something about the things you write stir my memory (and not much does these days! lol).

no, sweet friend, it isn't me...it's our wonderful God and King again,
blessing us both, it seems. ♥

ps-- you really did an outstanding job with the poem!
i stay away from Twitter because i think i've made it more than apparent
i cannot limit my own verbosity in any way. hehe
