Be kind to yourself.
You’re a human being, too.
You will make mistakes.
But it is okay.
Because, as long as you’re still alive, you still have opportunity;
Opportunity to make a better choice.
Opportunity to start again.
Sometimes we hold ourselves to high standards,
And, that is not necessarily a bad thing,
But high standards should never bludgeon you while you’re down, making it difficult to rise up again.
High standards should be forgiving; they should be encouraging.
And when they are, they become your hand up —
They make room for grace, and pat you on forward.
“You’re going to make it!”
“You’re doing so great!”
“I’m proud of you for getting up again!”
“You are brave!”
Defeat is not when you fall, but when you never rise again.
And if you haven’t risen yet, take heart.
You still can.
