I'm looking to write a song, probably something a little slower with an acoustic feel. For instruments, I'll probably use something like acoustic guitar, piano/keys, drums, and maybe some kind of solo instrument. And of course, vocals!! Problem is, I can have lots of trouble feeling inspired lyric-wise. Anyone wanna help me out and write me some praise and worship lyrics? Just post them below, and I'll see what I can do with them. I'll try to post the finished product if I can.

I'm not too picky about the format, but the standard 'setting' for a song is verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus. I obviously don't have to stick to this, but if the lyrics/poem could contain a chorus-ish piece, that would be awesome. After all, the chorus is almost always the most popular part of a song, so. . .

If more than one person comes up with something (I'm new here, so I have no idea how likely this is), I may try to combine different lines and such. But I'll try to use as much as I can.

Thanks guys!

PS: Mods, if I'm not supposed to post requests like this, just let me know and I'll take it down. Like I said, I'm new here, so I really don't know how things like this work.

Gods_Guy, there is a Music room in the chatroom portion of ChristianChat.com
Perhaps that could serve as a more collaborative effort?

Have you ever tried just sitting down with your instruments and just tuning out everything except God? It works very well! That's the true purpose of music and worship is it not? Yes it is also for our enjoyment people will say, but what greater enjoyment can you get from praising God with new songs? It helps to sit there and play along to old hymns and the such just to inspire the holy spirit in you... and if you only have God and worshiping Him in your mind you can sing new lyrics to these old songs without missing a beat. Try it yourself you might just be surprised :)

So if I understand the OP correctly you are offering to put music to what somebody wants to say in a song? That's great!

As a fellow music nerd I have to ask what DAW and instruments do you use? I use Reaper DAW, a lot of freeware plugins and a few payware, myself. (RealGuitar, RealStrat and Synth1 are all indispensable.)

Thanks for the suggestion. I try to make a habit of sitting down every once in a while with nothing but a guitar/piano/some other instrument, and worship for a little while. I've written a couple of songs and all too, I just thought it might be an interesting idea to try to collaborate with other people to try and come up with a song. I'm more of a musician than a poet, and I'm sure there are people that are more poetic than musical. Just because you don't have musical knowledge doesn't mean you can't contribute to worship, right?

I'm running Cubase 8.5 right now, I learned how to use Cubase in high school, so it's what I'm most familiar with. I'm sure there are better options out there, but for me it gets the job done just fine. And when you say instruments, I assume you are referring to VST instruments and the like? I'm just getting into the whole music production scene, so right now I'm only using the ones that came included with Cubase, although I would definitely be interested in learning about some of the more interesting ones available. The one I use the most is Halion Sonic, but I have access to a few other more in-depth synths as well.

Hey so I have posted this song on CC before and I got some critiques wish I have actually used on some parts. Some things I left it how it was becuase I liked it better that way and it made more sense to me, but feel free to change a few things if you like. I just write as a hobby so I'm not saying I'm good lol. But if you can use it, then please let me know :)

I already have a way I sing it, but I'm sure it can be changed to whatever suits

Verse 1:
A song of praise
To honor your name
Only lyrics of worship
Not lyrics for my gain

A prayer I sing
To please my King
Only words of worship
Not words for my needs

Chorus:
So I'll sing, "Holy, Holy is the Lord"
I follow after you my Savior
You have raised me up
You have shown me love
My Lord
My Lord

Verse 2:
The first time I
Received new life
Inside my soul
I saw the light

It's still amazing
That gift you gave me
Inside my soul
I know I'm free

Chorus:
And I'll sing, "Holy, Holy is the Lord"
I follow after you my Savior
You have raised me up
You've shown me your love
My Lord
Every believer knows of your reign
We'll never worship or to another pray
You are beautiful
You work miracles
My Lord
My Lord

Bridge:
Let us all cry out to the Lord
"Jesus, you are wonderful!"
Let every thing that hath breath say
"You are my God"
"You are my God"
"Jesus, you are my God"

Chorus:
l'll sing, "Holy, Holy is the Lord"
I follow after you my Savior
You have raised me up
You have shown me love
My Lord
Every believer knows of your reign
We'll never worship or to another pray
You are beautiful
You work miracles
My Lord
My Lord

You are beautiful
You work miracles my Lord
You are beautiful...
And you work miracles...
My Lord
My Lord...

Lord God Almighty maker of all things.
I love you my Savior and King
I look to the sky above and see your abundant love

I only wish the entire world
could see what a gift you can be
I lift my voice way up high to praise this king of mine
I lift my voice way up high my great lord I will not deny
The Creator of all the gifts we see how glorious our lord can be.
