I sit by the warmth of a fire
Crackling, spitting, sparking
Breaking the silence of early
Evening, drawing me in further.
The crackling wanes, slowly
Ending and then the glow of
Dying embers linger with warmth
And then quickly cool with a
Silent gasp as I put another log
On the lingering fire, never
Ending, always glowing, sometimes
Sparking and crackling, but
Always visible, always filling me
With the warmest of memories
And thoughts of loving my Lord
