"May I have this dance?" He asked, with love filling His eyes.
"I'd like to dance this dance with you and never leave your side."
"Oh, gracious King, my Lord," I said. "For what have I caught Your eye? I'm just a girl in pauper's shoes, and my heart is scared to try."
"My lamb, have you forgotten that I am a gracious King? When I brought you to My Kingdom, I gave you all new things. Your clothes are white as cotton now - no more stains or tears. I washed the dirt of the world from you and cast away your cares. I adorned your hair with gilded flowers. On your head I placed a crown. And on your feet are princess shoes, which peak from beneath your spotless white gown.
Now, precious child, let's delay no more. The song has already begun. There are many songs that await us, and many dances are yet to be done."
I smiled and placed my hand in His and began to take a step. Yet within my heart I felt that, somehow, doubt had slowly crept.
"But everyone is watching, Lord, and I'm afraid I have two left feet. I'm afraid I'll take a tumble, and You'll regret having chosen me."
Expecting Him to give up on me, I slowly looked up at His face. But instead of seeing disappointment, I saw compassion in its place.
"I know your fears and failures," He said. "All your doubts and sins. Yet more, my love, I know each dance, how each shall end and begin. There will be difficulty. Some steps are very hard. There will be times you'll trip and fall, but you'll fall into My arms.
Some dances you will master. Some you will enjoy, like the waltz of ease, the tango of love and the swing of unexpected joy.
But I've created every dance, and I'll be with you every step. Though at times you'll twirl at a distance, I'll know your every breath.
So, child, the floor is ours. The music has begun. Don't think about your fears, My love. Think on what I've already done."
I smiled and nodded gently, as joy rose within my chest.
"May I have this dance," He asked again.
And I answered, softly, "Yes."

Note: I wrote this as I was thinking about how it can be hard at times for some ladies (including myself) to believe that they're precious to God, and to trust Him and step out into the plans He has for them.

A wonderful metaphor, precious thoughts, deeply felt :D

You can’t diminish God’s love for you. What you can do, however, is learn how to believe it, receive it, trust it, allow it, and celebrate it, accepting Trinity’s whirling invitation to join in the cosmic dance.

Thank you! I really want to feel secure in His love, but it feels like there's always been this little nagging corner of my heart that's holding back or hesitates to trust in His love. I think for me it's fear of rejection and the fact that I've had scary and difficult experiences in the past that have hurt/shocked my heart. Do you know what I mean? I really want to love with my whole heart but don't know how, and also want to know what it feels like to be totally loved and secure and believe it.
Anyhow, I really appreciate your encouragement.
PS. Do you know how I would edit my post? (I don't see an edit button) There's a typo that's really bugging me! Haha. I guess I'm being insecure...

first of all...when it comes to love, you are on the right track..you have to learn to love yourself...love is in this...it is not what you can do for me, it is what can i do for you..to get to that place, prayer is the most important thing...when you pray in my view, it is best to read a few verses in new testament...about a dozen or so is enough...then put the bible down and just feel the presence of God...i don't think there is a way of coming back to a post..none that i have found....as Christians we are loved and love as a family...so know that you are very much loved :D

know that your fears are real and well grounded in this fallen world -
it seems that you have been given a special gift to discern this -

Christ's Love is always the answer/key to everyone's future, if they accept it...

Thank you :) Amen, He is the answer. I get tempted to drift away amid all the day-to-day stuff and other hurts the world brings, but when I feel close to Him I never want to leave.

Very touching, girls and women need to know that Jesus loves them and will take them graciously as they are.

Yes, I agree. I also think there's a little girl in all of us ladies who He wants to restore. By this I mean I think He wants to heal our broken hearts that were once innocent and tender, and make us in a way like sweet children who can rest in His arms, who can dream again and feel precious. That's part of where I was coming from when I wrote it.
