My journey of life began unknowing
Of the world beyond what I could see,
All was hidden from me beyond the
Forest of trees and haunting whistles
Through the pines and their aromas
Constant and still in my memories as
If it was yesterday. A dog at my side,
My constant protector vicious to any
Stranger passes too close by as we
Sat together, me on a stump, he right
Next to me; no God in my heart not
Even a word of Him was ever known.
It was a very long time before He came
To my mind from an itinerant preacher
Introduced me to word God and after
He left I began to ponder and wonder
For many years why I should bother, why
Should I care when one day out of thin air
While I was not looking for Him, He found
Me and I wondered why He would come to
Me, you see and it came to me that He was
Actually there all the time. The rest is no
Longer a mystery but my history He lifted
Me to where I had never been. Now I can
Never be what I once was, He gave me an
Offer I couldn't refuse and; who could
Because eternal live is forever our friend.
