Walk trough the valley

Journey to enter into rest
Poetic map Inspired from The dark night of the soul by St John of the cross

1: On a dark night, kindled in love with yearnings, oh happy chance!
I went forth without being observed, My house being now at rest.

Entering into rest in God, our soul no longer experiences distress as in the valley of decision: where we are troubled with cares of this life and not one with God as we should. We forsake the fountain of living water, seeking in creature what is found in God; left to ourselves because we left our first Love, until we return. Think of the prodigal son, in depravity from seeking comfort in this world and coming to His senses to return to the Father as a servant of no reputation. The Father runs to the son, embraces him and gives him the best robe: a new identity by the Holy Spirit. The Father puts a ring on his finger: authority as son of God over all deceitful power of the enemy. The Father puts shoes on his feet: "He that says he lives in Him is to walk even as He walked." Rightly related to God, is not how you see yourself, it's how we see God and change in identity with Him. "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of Him who brings good news, proclaiming peace, announcing news of renewal.” The Father prepares a feast, the son has come home: the Father does it all! Not about you and what you did, but who's you are and what He did to save us from ourselves.

"Come to Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." We don't have anything to prove with ministry of our own, "Then said they to him: What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said to them: This is the work of God: that you believe on Him whom He has sent." Believing is "Faith that works by Love." "Love does not insist on its own way," otherwise thinking we arrived to a place of freedom, we encounter a deceitful enemy unwilling to give up control, to take things in our hands again: desires of the flesh in pride of achievement, the false self in the mind of the flesh, the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. While I start working Jesus stops, "What is gain for me is lost for Christ."

"For all in the world living for pleasures of the flesh and pleasure of the eyes and pride in achievements and possessions, are not of the Father, but of the world."
Just as Saul desired to remain in charge when David is anointed king; the old man still desires control when we receive the Holy Spirit. Progress of inner life is a fight of faith, between the outward man in the mind of the flesh and the inner man in a journey to find t he Holy Spirit as our help, to have the mind of Christ. "The weapons of our warfare are not of our fleshly mind, but mighty through God to pull down strong holds; turning down imaginations and every proud thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to obedience of Christ."
"Prepare for war... Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord, is near in the valley of decision."
The valley is a depression in the land with limited vision from disappointed expectations, where we stopped short on our journey: the little value we set on Him being what we received. "For where your treasure is there your heart will be." We can't fight this battle on our own. "He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathers not with me scatters abroad. Wherefore I say to you, all manner of sin shall be forgiven unto men: but rejecting the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men."
If we do not walk in the light we have, we deceive ourselves and become dull of hearing, so that knowledge of God becomes something far away. In disorder of inner life spiritual reading does not bring relief; not having put away our divided spirit leaves room for the spirit of fear and offensive temper: repeating insanity of looking for fulfilment in deceitful desires of the flesh becomes addictive, driven by fear, to cling to a life for ourselves, becomes "Lovers of pleasure more than Lovers of God."

"This kind does not come out but by prayer and fasting."
"God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of Love and power and a sound mind."
The fast that pleases the Lord, to put away our divided spirit is not about abstaining from food but to get past ourselves: moved by His compassion to share our bread with the hungry, to cease from controlling desires and from our own words (Isaiah 58), to stand alone with God, cough up to God where nothing else is real in sight of reality in God.

"Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say to you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able." Fear of losing a life for ourselves keeps us from entering. Just as the caterpillar dissolves for the butterfly to emerge; we lose the old life in unfulfilled desires of the flesh, “Where their worm dies not and the fire is not quenched," to mount up to God with wings as eagles and have our thirst satisfied by His spirit. "In the last day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried saying: If any man thirst, let Him come to Me and drink. He that believes in Me, as the scriptures say, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (He was refereeing to His Spirit given to everyone who would believe in him)."
You must value what you have: while we continue to drink from the fountain of living water we no longer thirst after the world. The refreshing of His Spirit satisfies us, not to take thing in our hands again "Perfect Love drives out all fear."

"If any of you wants to be my disciple, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily and Follow me. If you seek your life, you will lose it, but if you lose your life for My sake you will save it."
"For which of you intending to build a tower, sits not down first and counts the cost he has to finish?"
There is a cost to discipleship, unless we forsake everyone and everything that would hold us back, including our own life, we don't have sufficient invested in God to gain interest and cannot be His disciple. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." “Many are called but few are chosen.”
"Consider how you hear, for with the measure you receive, it will be measured to you when more is given." "If you continue in My word then are you My disciples, and you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free."
Our destiny unfolds in a solitary journey of communion with God. As a babe nurtured with milk of its loving mother, the Grace of God carried us effortlessly; finding pleasure in spiritual things with faults unaware until taken from the breast and set down to learn to walk in the Spirit. "Whom shall God teach knowledge and whom shall He make to understand hearing? Those that are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts." When discontent to lose habits of a babe we strive for knowledge as power to control, rather than learning of God in humility. Such one-sided repentance of our will and pride of achievement does great harm, “Knowledge puffs up, but Love builds up.” Having not patience to wait on God to give more light and taking things in our hands again we offend: lecturing or reproving others to feel better about ourselves is contrary to meekness, as friends of God extend reconciliation rather than judgment. "God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble." Jesus told religious leaders, "The publicans and sinners enter the kingdom of God before you." To seek His authority for advantage disqualifies us; until we see our desire for recognition keeps us from facing our emptiness in relationship with God.

"How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation?"
"For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end destruction, whose god their belly, who glory in their shame and mind earthly things."
Paul referred to opposition from worldly religious leaders controlled by desire (Acts 14:4), as having "fought with beasts who caused the multitude of the city to be divided." "I die daily. If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantaged it me, if the dead rise not?" "For we would not brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, so much that we despaired even of life; but we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead."

To seek first the kingdom of God is the journey to enter His rest. "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom, and five of them were wise, and five foolish. The foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them; but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. At midnight there was a cry made: Behold the bridegroom comes, go out to meet Him. Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the wise: Give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered saying: Not this way, there is not enough for us and you, but go rather to them that sell and buy for yourselves."

The foolish had light for a while but had not put away their divided spirit to be carried by the Holy Spirit. We can't cut a patch of the Holy Spirit to mend our divided spirit, our heart would be thorn worse, to mend proving ourselves acceptable to God in our old life in depravity. The fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil is a divided spirit; the Holy Spirit who will not be divided. The wise entered in the will of God with their whole heart and could not share with those in fear of losing a life for themselves, "God will not share His glory with another." "Behold I come quickly and my reward is with Me, to give every man according as His work shall be," We become one with Him in the fellowship of His sufferings, to grow up in His Love. "If we suffer with Him, we shall rule with Him." "The rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished."
"If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

"For this reason we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe."
Learning of Him to enter His rest, we no longer reason concerning the things of the Spirit, but still suffer trials of fear of getting lost on the road and affections indulged cause emptiness. The more we seek support in affections and imagination of this life, the more we feel the lack; weary in quietness like an addict tempted to go back to habits abandoned, like one who left a city and desires to return. Affections remain in the spirit as desire to take things in our hands again, until “When I grew up, I put away childish things.” To enter His presence with thanksgiving and remain, standing praying. If we knew to be quietly listening, present with Him and not troubled with controlling desires, we would experience inner refreshment in ease from care; so delicate is the refreshing of the Spirit that even desire to experience hinders, “We must through much trouble enter the kingdom of God." This beginning of contemplation is dark to senses, not knowing where to go with understanding and imagination, to trust He
communicates our present reality. "Lean not on your own understanding but trust in the Lord."
"When I was a child, I spoke as a child; I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

He will give more light when we walk in the light we have: to enter in the relationship of Jesus in constant fellowship with the Father, praying with the influence of His Spirit where we have trouble. “In everything give thanks, pray without ceasing, rejoice ever more, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
Seeing dimly God's perspective we no longer try to master His Word in our understanding and yield ourselves as members of His body. "We all with open face, beholding as in a glass the glory of our Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, by the Spirit of the Lord." Like a vine pruned of excess branches; losing our old life in a wilderness where life doesn't make sense, to emerge as the choice branch remaining in fellowship with God; receiving abundance from the vine to produce more fruit. Detached from love of pleasure and gaining Love of neighbor, not judging as before we have peace and comfort in God.

"Let us not judge one another anymore, but judge this rather, that no-one cause a brother to stumble."
"For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. That is why many among you are weak and sick and a number of you have fallen asleep. But if we were discerning, we would not come under judgment. Nevertheless, when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world."
The message of the cross is not to deny our self on our own strength, we could not: identified with the disciples of Christ in the communion of the last super, "All of you will abandon me this night," following to the garden of Gethsemane as His disciples, "Became heavy with sleep… This is the hour and power of darkness." Peter convinced to die with Him in battle, is unable to identify with His suffering rejection by those desiring to be in charge, until empowered by His Spirit; like His disciples we would abandon Him and go back to our own lives. Good will is not enough, "I want to do what is right but I don’t, Instead I do what I hate... I have the will but not the power to do what is right, "

"I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ and Him Crucified."
Deep down you don’t want to be healed; few proceed further in identity with Christ: to get past, you have to surrender everything. The Holy Spirit is given to us forever as our healing and Life from the dead, to enable us to Love as God Loves and forgive our enemies, that's why rejecting Him can't be forgiven. "For if you forgive not, neither will your Father in heaven forgive you." Thankful for what we have in relationship with God is advancing into His rest: to dwell with Him as never absent. “Enter in at the strait gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way, that leads to destruction and many there be which go in there: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, that leads to life, and few there be that find it.” Entering in the Father's House is about relationship with God. “Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them: What do you seek? They said to Him: Master where do You live? He said to them: Come, and see. So they came and saw where He lived; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour."

"Where two or more are gathered in My name, there I Am in the midst of them."
We follow His Spirit as our guide as we learn to walk in Love. Maturing Love is loving out of our need to become real, as opposed to needing to be loved. Not about changing others, His Spirit empowering us to change and Love others as they are, frees them to change. Brokenness between conscience and subconscious is healed as we admit our faults and become real in relationships. "Confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that you may be healed." Admitting our failure and praying for one another that we may be healed.

No one recognized Jesus in the resurrection until they received Him as a stranger. The two disciples on the road to Emmaus did not recognize Him in a long conversation with Him, until after offering Him hospitality as a stranger: in the breaking of bread. Jesus revealed himself to Mary Magdalene after she expressed desire to care for His body; other disciples had resolved to go back fishing. “Simon Peter said to them, I go fishing. They said to him, we also go with you. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately, and that night they caught nothing... and Jesus said to them: Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and you shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes." They recognized Him after obeying His word as a stranger on the right side: by the miracle. Acknowledging Him in the least esteemed, we see past ourselves, having left the presence of the Lord, back to habits abandoned, laboring in vain in the will of the flesh. "They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy." God's response to Jonas, "shall I not spare… people that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand."
Jesus addressed Peter on Loving Him by feeding His flock and on the cost of following Him: receiving afresh the Way least understood. “Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you clothed yourself and walked where you would; but when you shall be old, you shall stretch forth your hands and Another shall clothe you and carry where you would not. This He said, signifying by what death he shall glorify God; and having said this, He said to him: Follow Me."

Walk trough the valley
#2
Re: Journey to enter into rest in God, Part 2

2: In darkness and secure, by the secret ladder disguised:
Oh happy chance! In darkness concealed, My house being now at rest.

The night of the spirit could be years after the night of following Christ in our senses, but having experienced Him won’t be forgotten. Night comes and then dawn, having serenity and fellowship in community without hindrances as before, seeing dimly the reality of the kingdom of heaven within.
Acts 2:42 Describes this time before we are confronted with a greater need of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 4:31 is a good example of entering the night of the Spirit, these already received the Holy Spirit and are praying for boldness to stand against opposition. In this experience of seeking the Lord with the whole heart, believers "were of one heart and one soul." These outpourings of the Spirit referred as the former and later rain: the later for the ripening of the fruit. We are encouraged to "Ask and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened." The night of the Spirit is the portion of few who remain standing in relationship with God. Carried by the Spirit in the will of God.

"Follow the Spirit as your guide that you may resist the flesh."
"Let him that is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house: neither him in the field return back to take his clothes." To remain standing praying, not to take things in our hands again: not to return to old identity. The field is the world we overcome through Christ and remain as light. The disciple becomes like the Master to enter into Wisdom. Carried of the Spirit to enters the Spirit; when friendship is spiritual, Love of God grows with it. “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”

He has finished the work but requires cooperation with Him for us to grow up in Him: to remain in His Love and endure with patience and long-suffering, the fruit of the Spirit. As the passion of Christ takes us captive, we are wounded with His wounds and journey into union with God. "These are the wounds I received in the house of my friends." Unbearable: but by His Spirit, carried into His death to all that is not of God becomes our freedom, "He that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin. If not proved with trials we would not enter the wisdom of God: to yield ourselves to God in affliction, our understanding affections and will in affliction as we are touched by grief of the Love of God.

"The eyes of the Lord run to and fro through the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is toward Him." "They that wait on the Lord shall renew strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
We learn to soar effortlessly with Him and loose this privilege when controlled by desire of relationships: distracted from single minded identity in God. David, an example of a man after God's heart, waiting on the Lord while tending the Father's sheep in the wilderness. "I will enter in his gates with thanksgiving in my heart, into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless his name."

David is anointed king and carried by the Spirit to see God's perspective and face Goliath without fear, "The Joy of the Lord our strength." "Out of the mouth of babes you have ordained praise: to still the enemy and avenger." Saul becomes afraid of David and gives him his daughter in marriage. "Saul said: I will give him her that she be a snare to Him." Saul compromised by desire to remain in charge, becomes oppressed. "The evil spirit from the Lord was on Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with hand, and Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night." David leaves the comfort of Saul's daughter and escapes down the wall to find in the wilderness what was lost in Saul's house. The wall enclosed us in our comfort zone with desire to please the old king and kept us from going on to know the Lord. David escaped, a battle he was not to fight: neither do we fight controlling desires but escape to seek the Lord for help. "They shall run and not be weary," "Flee anger," "Flee youthful lusts that war against the soul," "Flee from idolatry." Those who still love this present world can't run from the insanity of controlling desire. "It shall come to past in the day that the lord shall give you rest from your sorrow and fear and the hard bondage, wherein you were made to serve." "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the enemy and he will flee from you." "Praise the Lord O my soul, and forget not all His benefits. Who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies; Who satisfies your mouth with good, so your youth renews like the eagle's."

The war does not end with the death of the old man. After the death of Saul, David no longer having outward enemies and become king over all Israel, encounters the enemy within: corrupted by power, taking things in his hands with Bathsheba. The sentence of the Lord, "From now on you shall have wars." To turn to God for help in adversity: to yield to Him in affliction, as contraries otherwise that cannot coexist as one. "You did chastise me Lord, and I was instructed.” Losing sight of the Lord and feeling hopeless is the greatest affliction in these uncertain times. "Every man's work will be tried by fire."
"The heir, as long as he is a child, differs nothing from a servant, though he be Lord of all; but is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the Father."

"Consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest you be weary and faint in your minds, you have not resisted unto blood striving against sin, and you have forgotten the exhortation that speaks to you as His children, My son despise not the discipline of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved of Him, for whom the Lord Loves He disciplines."
Lamentations of Jeremiah: “I the man has seen affliction by the rod of his wrath. He has led me in darkness and not light… He has walled me in so that I can’t get out; He has made my chain heavy... My soul still has remembrance and is humbled in me. This I recall to mind, therefore have I hope, the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed; His compassions fail not, new every morning: Your great faithfulness.”
Our will gone from ourselves becomes united with God, no longer loves with natural strength but from the Holy Spirit’s perfecting Love. Mercy so great we think trials to be over for ever, not to take things in our hands again; but the root is hidden as an enemy asleep. "Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble’s you and thereby many be defiled.”

“I looked and there was no-one to help; and I wondered that there was no-one to uphold: therefore My own arm brought salvation to Me; and My fury, it upheld Me.”
When there is no-one left is our opportunity to find the Lord as our help. In this hiding-place of contemplation with no-one left, we find the Holy Spirit selfless with us. “When He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come.”

"Let us go forth unto Him outside the camp bearing His reproach." "As Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin."
To yield ourselves to God in affliction, having changed garments with Christ: without hindrance from earthly affections, as a traveler in uncharted territory, going forth to union of Love. A secret ladder hidden from understanding, wisdom we see dimly; causing us to cease from ourselves in language of God: carried in profound retreat and raised to enter into Love. Different from visions and dreams interpreted and described; loosing what we think we know, to find the secret ladder of contemplation ascending to treasures of Heaven. "Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.” Humbled and raised up to God, mounting in this ladder we suffer many ups and downs: prosperity followed by storms and trials; making the most of our time, given calm to prepare against the coming storm: to keep watch ascending and descending until we enter into rest in God. “Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have kept your word."

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man."
Jesus prayed for us to be in the unity of Spirit: "That they all may be one; as You Father, in Me, and I in You, that they also may be one in Us: that the world may believe that You have sent Me." As we are identified with Him in His death, we ascend in His Resurrection, effortlessly by the Holy Spirit. This ladder Jacob saw by night as he slept, the angels of God ascending and descending on it, and behold, the Lord stood above it." This ladder of His Love is the judgment that must begin at His house, to bring us in His relationship with the Father. Love makes our heart long for the Beloved and guides us to soar upward to God along the road of solitude. On higher steps much is revealed through Love. “Then the righteous will answer him: Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The King will reply: Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Until that day there remains secret Love: to rise above all things, above ourselves and mount up to God. The last step of this ladder of Love belongs not in this life, but assimilated to God, "We shall see Him as He is for we shall be like Him,"

In the communion of the Last supper Jesus left His will as our inheritance, to exchange of life with Him: to enter His relationship with the Father. "It's no longer I that lives, but Christ that lives in me. And the life that I now live, I live by faith in the one who Loves me and delivers me." Perfect Love by His Spirit delivers us from fear. "As laborers together with God," His Spirit carries us "In newness of life," with good will and affections according to God, "Now we have the mind of Christ." “Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church."

Walk trough the valley

Re: Journey to enter into rest in God, Part 3

The practice of the Presence of God: from writings of brother Laurence.

“There remains a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered into His rest has ceased from his works as God from His.”
To persevere in spiritual life: "Redeeming the time, because the days are evil." Persevering strengthens faith, not to repeat insanity to take things in our hands again; trials of understanding and affections against us, and faith alone for us, not mindful of God as we should: suffering unworthiness and delusions of no hope. “Many are they that rise up against me… but You O Lord are a shield for me... I laid me down and slept, I awake for the Lord sustained me." Those in agreement with God have the gale of the Holy Spirit and go forward even in sleep. If the vessel is tossed with opposing winds and storms, there is always a way with the wind by tacking into the wind; not fearful or complaining and reproved for thinking we perish in His fellow-ship, rather entering into His rest. Tactful to get past troubles and cares of relationships, to turn to the Lord who is resting in the ship.

The presence of God contains the whole spiritual life, a journey freeing us from attachments of this life.
"I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart." Carried by His Spirit with inner peace  as an eagle soaring effortlessly, suspended and fixed in God. “You will keep in perfect peace whose mind is set on You, because he trusts in You.” Having let go of desiring control, to delight in God and find His influence in the midst of relationships, that He may do as He please. He embraces with Love and welcomes us to eat at His table that we may have strength to endure with patience: most necessary for a soldier in unknown territory, daily faced with afflictions and danger.
“You set a table before me in the presence of my enemies."

“What things were gain for me, those I counted loss for Christ. I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things... This one thing I do, forgetting what is behind, I go forward.”
Counting it Joy to walk in the Light we have, we get more Light; those exercised in Godliness comprehend this principal to grow in Love. This does not tire the body, recalled to yield ourselves to God as often as we find ourselves wandering. Continuing with thanksgiving and not discouraged by the war against us from nature. Persevering to bear the cross we find He requires no great accomplishments from us. “He has shown you, O man, what is good: and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." Everyone is capable of communion with God, but we don’t become holy at once. Thinking we are better we would go faster than grace and running ahead, fall with shame. A woman said to the Lord: Lord I thought You said Your yoke is easy? He replied, "Mine is." She understood, but worldly people do not comprehend, suffering what they are in despising the cross, for our heart is to be with our treasure. God is near when we acknowledge our poverty and need, "He is near the poor and broken-heart." He never forsakes us, we forsake Him and fall that we may learn to continually repent: to turn our will to His will, to bring our thoughts and affection captive to God, like an eagle exerting strength to reach the up-draft, trusting to be carried effortlessly by His Spirit in fellowship with the Father. If we cling to cares of anyone or anything, even our own life, we cannot be His disciple, in His relationship with the Father. “Godly sorrow leads to repentance but worldly sorrow leads to death.” Not to be compared with what He endured in taking the blame for His creation: to give us rest from our sorrow, and fear, and the hard bondage where we were made to serve.

We help one another by encouragement, yet more by example pleasing to God in identity with Christ. Just as there is difference between acts of the intellect and of the will; the first of little value, acts of the will all important to be carried by His Spirit where we could not. “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints." He grants favors to sinners who won’t glory in themselves but Joy in His mercy to have blame taken away, "Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much." Cleansed by the blood of Jesus when failed and if we fail not, giving thanks, acknowledging it’s of Him. Many do not advance in Christ and remain stuck to shame that the Lord has taken the blame for: insisting on being in control, desiring to prove themselves while neglecting the love of God. To be born of God implies, carried by Him past trying to prove ourselves; God became man to take our blame that we might become one with Him, "The merciful shall obtain mercy."

Our inner man has faith awakened to walk in Love, doing unto Him what we commonly did for ourselves as work; counting it Joy to be united to the will of God, we have sufficient light not to premeditate what to say. “A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be kind to everyone, patient in instructing those opposing themselves, that God give them repentance to acknowledge the truth.” "Now the end of the commandment is Love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and sincere faith."

"Let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we who have believed do enter into rest."
Seeing them fall from grace, cautions us to keep ourselves in the Love of God. "You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt lost his Savior, it's no longer good for anything but to be thrown out (on ice) and trampled by men." We could not work out our salvation if God were not working in us. What we behold with admiration remains with us, whether loving this present world or turning to Him for help, humbled in His sufferings for us: to know His measure of Love, yielding to Him who regards not great work but the lover performing it. "In His light we see light," Grace is God’s influence to work out our renewal as present reality, “To be partaker of the Divine nature.” Thanksgiving for His influence carries us into His presence: in contemplation worship thoughts cease to proceed from ourselves, entering the Christ, the kingdom of God within, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” "I am with you always, even to the end of the world." We can do all things with the Grace of God, persevering with thanksgiving, He will grant at once what was deferred many years. God knows best what we need and all that He does is for our good. If we knew how much He Loves us, we would be ready to receive the bitter cup as well as the sweet from His Hand. Afflictions appear intolerable if we see them in the wrong light; but how can we see differently until we come to Him and “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” We deceive ourselves seeking God for favors that don't bring us near Him, thinking there would be another time elsewhere to be in Him.

The Way of the Lord revealed in His creation:
"The invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made."
"There are three things which are too wonderful for me, yes four which I can't attain to: the way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent up a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maiden."

The way of an eagle in the air: exerting strength to reach the updraft and soar effortlessly on rising air currents. "They that wait on the Lord shall renew strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."
When fledglings learn to fly, some won't learn at once to exert their wings to reach the updraft and end up left on the ground to fend for themselves until willing to learn. Identified with creature comfort, we will not soar with Him, but having had a taste as brief as it was won't be forgotten. We experience this from time to time in worship, but until we learn obedience of faith, we lose direction of the up-draft and end up back on the ground to "Run and not be weary" of those desiring to be in charge, and to "walk and not faint," from troubles and fears. One such eaglet like me, who would not learn at once, was found by a farmer and nurtured in his chicken coop for a while; eventually the memory of soaring overtook the nurture of comfort zone and disappeared to destiny.

One out of two fledgling eaglets will not survive the first year. "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left."
1 out of 2 Christian leaders who were tortured for their faith in Russia and China, Japan and Korea... gave in to the government to be restored as puppet leaders of the government approved church and not permitted to evangelize. The ones remaining in prison fulfilling their calling? "Tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection... God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect." These cause revival to spread, even mention of them stirs admiration of the Holy Spirit in us. “I know your suffering and your poverty but you are rich. I know the blasphemy of those opposing you. They say they are of God, but are not, their house belongs to the enemy. Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The accuser will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. Be faithful when facing death, I will give you the crown of life. Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what He is saying to the churches. Whoever is victorious will not be harmed by the second death.”

The way of a snake up a rock: to become one with the rock, climbing by making a vacuum with belly against the rock; avoiding sand and dirt that would break the seal and cause its downfall. "I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."
One with "The Rock that is higher than I." The influence of His Spirit to "Flee youthful lusts that war against the soul. To seek God in our heart and continually return to Him, avoiding slippery places of controlling desire, "Wise as serpents.” Avoiding pride of achievement: not to be blinded by self-sufficiency and resist the operations of Grace, to suffer all things with a single eye to please Him, "Harmless as doves." Neglect of Interior Life is not remaining in Him who Is the Life of the vine, the source of Grace and God of all comfort.
"You shall seek Me, and find, when you shall search for Me with all your heart."

The way of a ship in the midst of the sea: there is always a way with the wind; when winds are contrary we progress by tacking into the wind. "All things work together for good to them that Love God, who are called to His purpose."
Every journey has its beginning, progress and fulfillment; beginning in prayer is labor until we enter into rest in God. Leaving creature entanglements, cords loosed to push off from old port and clear harbor and put to sea. We proceed to the interior, the kingdom of heaven within under the rule of His Spirit. Spreading sails: laid bare in prayer to expose areas of our heart held back and yield our whole heart to be caught up to God in the wind of the Spirit. Leaving familiar land behind, in the wind of the open sea, proceed so swiftly that oars are useless and laid aside, prayer becomes effortless. We rest from our labor and glide rapidly along without toil and make more Way in one hour than a day rowing on our efforts. The comparison of His Spirit is much greater so that in one day yielding to His Spirit, we grow more than a year on our own efforts. "For a day in Your courts, is better than a thousand elsewhere." Thankful for what we have in relationship with God, the Way advances us inwardly in a short time, further than a life spent in acts of self-exertion. The less striving wasted in vain pursuits, the further we advance effortlessly, "Strive to enter His rest."

The way of a man with a maiden: Love is its own reward, a new relationship effortlessly drawn to learn to love, motivating the relationship to develop of its own accord: to cease from ourselves and find rest in the beloved. "Husbands Love your wives as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for Her... He that loves his wife loves himself... "This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church." Not disquiet when caught up in trouble of relationship, since He is with us in trouble and we can’t without Him put away our divided spirit that interrupted God. "Man that is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble." The novelty of the first year of marriage gone, having left our first Love the relationship becomes work. We are in trouble when carried emotionally by woman; we long to give ourselves in relationship, to love and be loved intimately, but until Christ in us is our first Love, we will not be united as one. Adversity works for good, as we turn to the Lord to learn of Him in humility that to become one is no longer about me. When trying to achieve to impress our mate we don't Love as God Loves. "It remains, that both they that have wives be as though they have none." To cease planning and wishing with imagination, to enter His House in a journey of discovery we can’t imagine; having agreement more wonderful than we could dream, over time becomes habitual presence of God. "His mercies are new every morning, great is your faithfulness."
"Of the increase of His government there will be no end."
