Easter, the name given as the time of The Resurrection
A time set aside for remembrance and praise
When tears express both pain and joy
We give honor and glory to God's wonderful message of love
And the significance of Jesus' resurrection
But being human, I cannot help but think about
How He must have felt
After being deserted and denied by His closest of friends
After being despised and humiliated by His own people
After suffering the cruelest and most agonizing death known to man
What was His first thought, His first emotion when He came out of the tomb?
Here was the Friend of all friends
Here was the Savior of the world
Here was the Son of God
All Alone
Can you hear the silence?
Can you feel the heartache?
Can you see the disappointment?
Did no one believe He would return?
He told them He would return
He told them when He would return
But the only ones who heard Him were the people who put Him to death
How could the men who had lived with Him for 3 years not be eagerly waiting for Him?
How could the women who loved Him so dearly not be anxiously pacing for Him?
How could His mother who had no doubt of His Father not be sitting by the tomb?
My heart cries out
"Jesus, I would have listened when You spoke"
"Jesus, I would not have been afraid"
"Jesus, I would have been there"
But would I?
How many times do I turn a deaf ear to Him?
How many times do I fail to even mention His name?
How many times does He need me and I am not there?
How can I say I would have been there for Him then
When I am not always here for Him now?
Loving Jesus, I want to live my life for You
Unashamed and unwavering
Listening for Your voice
Eager to share Your Good News
Thank You Jesus for loving me
I anxiously wait for Your return.
