A reflection
Woe unto me!
When my heart was cold and dull
Ignoring Your voice
My deliverer and all!
Even though
Every day was a reminder
Of Your love
Still I was blind, I was astray...
When You have been sufficient
For me,
With Thine ever flowing grace
Oh! Thine precious loving kindness
That enfolded us all...
Yet, I went away
Seeking and seeking
Chasing after the winds...
Vanity of vanities...
Even I couldn't grasp
How could it be!
Could any limited man
Keep gushing his love
For someone who
Steadfastly ignored all his love ?
Perhaps, but, could that man
Love as Our Saviour?
Who willingly took that
Cup of pain...
Oh! How could it be
That I, who tasted Your love
Have swayed astray?
Perhaps it was my lack of understanding
Or perhaps my intrinsic pride
Or perhaps I was lured into
The bittersweet candy of my adversary
Or could it be
Because of my heart's ingratitude
Easily swayed by the race of this world?
I could merely suppose.
But I could only conclude this-
My heart didn't yearn for thee,
Or my soul never sought You
Or submitted to You
In earnest
For which I am ashamed...
Therefore let this sorrow
Lead me to Your Word
The light that brightens the darkness
Let our weakness
Lead us to Your will
Which is more precious and trustworthy
Than all things that we see
Let our infirmities
Lead us to lean
On Your Voice, Your vine
You who are ever faithful
You who take our burdens and worries
For without You,
Man is in vain.
Woe unto me!
When my heart was cold and dull
Ignoring Your voice
My deliverer and all!
Even though
Every day was a reminder
Of Your love
Still I was blind, I was astray...
When You have been sufficient
