Sometimes I need Him...like I needed Dad
So many years ago,
I was all of three.
We went to church
The whole family.
It was over-packed that day.
I eased my little self up on the folding chair
As my Dad smiled my way.
I knew it was right to be there.
I knew in my heart, I was guided to share
In that special love of a God on high.
Something may parents for me and my siblings
Would ne'er deny.
LIfe got ugly
Satan moved on us
Torturing
Tormenting
Hating
Disallusioning
Yet God stood beside us
And my Dad's faith did not stop.
My Mother's took root in the family stock.
With God as their witness
Through all those hard times.
They talked aplenty of giving up
But they always stopped.
Sometimes I need my Father.
Though Dad has passed and is with Him.
I know I'm not alone.
My parents grew us up.
To know our precious Lord.
Sometimes I need Him
My Father dear.
I wish at times it were my Dad.
I long at times for a Mother's hug.
I thank God I had them for a season in time.
Not much left to rhyme.
Thank you, Jesus, for your love.
I look forward to the day
I see them again
In your precious place.
The mansion above
Adorned with love.
Of that I've no doubt
For my family is there
That's all it ever needed.
And You
You to be complete.
A God well-known.
Then - then I will see.
With love
For you all
