Not much form, because this is actually a song I wrote about 8 years ago for a metal band I did vocals in.

Bleed my eyes, tear my flesh
this weight bares hard down upon me, the curse of Sodom is within me, these chains tied tight around my chest block my movements towards the end and I can not run.

I cannot see the end, I cannot see the light...And now my eyes are blinded

My eyes are blinded by this darkness I cannot see, my heart is jaded from this prison I do not feel, my eyes are blind.

God, cut these eyes open that blind my soul, and tear this heart open so I can feel, the curse of Sodom thrives within my soul, but I walk towards the end, towards the light

I have come so far away, and I, oh Lord, have shamed your name, God will you restore my soul

THIS! CURSE! DIES!

This curse of Sodom drops down dead and dies within my soul and, and I will walk on towards the end, towards the light.
This curse of Sodom drops down dead and dies inside my soul and, and I will walk on towards the end, towards my God.

I don't condemn homosexuals (people who engage in homosexual behavior). It's not my job to do that. My job is to remove the plank(s) from my own eyes so that I can see clearly how to remove the splinter from my brother (or sister's) eye.

Of course homosexuality is, along with a great number of sinful behaviors, condemned in the Bible and scripture has some very serious words for those who reject the Gospel and God's rightousness to stay in sexual immorality with other people.

You know I had no thought of homosexuality when I wrote this, though I can easily see how the confusion is made.

The concept of the curse of Sodom was actually thought up by one of our guitarists as an allusion to lust, and sexual addiction, something he and myself both dealt with. He came up with the term "curse of Sodom" and the line "this curse dies", and told me the ideas he had of them referring to lust, and I just took the two things and ran with it.

So this song (though it does apply) wasn't written as much about, specifically, homosexuality as it was just sexual immorality in general, and it certainly wasn't to condemn others or apply guilt, as it was really written about my own personal experiences and how it made me feel.

Thank you for explaining what was meant. What was obvious to me was the desire to please God and be whole in the lyrics.
