The path I choose will lead me in one direction,
salvation of my soul or eternal rejection.
If I choose what I feel is it something I should obtain,
or would it be just another vain and foolish gain?
Will my light increase down the road of ease and self,
or will it diminish with the promotion of an ungodly wealth.
This road is often traveled by those without understanding,
their lives driven by self, it is always so demanding.
Never content, never knowing peace in their souls,
the nature of the beast leaving an eternal hole.
Yes this was my state of mind even as a young man,
taken by darkness, walking through life without a single plan.
So often deceived by the craftiness of sin,
when going down this path did I ever truly win?
For the end is destruction and the consequence fatal,
a deadening blow to my being begun at the cradle.
For I was born into sin and a fallen state of mind,
on a journey of destruction almost all of the time.
But the end of my story is not one of sadness and despair,
For my soul has now been enlightened and what joy is there.
It was Jesus who I called on when everyone else failed,
His hands and His feet for my sins were nailed.
And now I have a peace that this world could not give,
Because of my savior now I can truly live.
