B
Your daughters have been crying.
Your eyes are losing sight,
you’re hurting yourself just like your daughter does,
you put yourself down for things that are out of your control.
But you know what,
you’re one of the strongest men I’ve known.
We’ve hit notes that have clashed against
each other,
loud ones.
We’ve almost silenced every piece of the music,
but somehow there’s still a melody playing in our heads for each other.
I don’t know how.
I know we’ve tasted vinegar and have remembered the horrible taste for years, we’ve even used it against each other.
But it’s not over, it’s not over, it’s not.
If we keep hanging on to that it will bring a peace,
but maybe if someday we open our mouths wider
we’ll be able to sing songs with sweet sorrowful and victorious smiles,
face to face… to each other, not just throughout our heads contained.
Maybe there’s forgiveness for our sin.
Maybe…
It’s not over.
Maybe “we’ll” actually begin.
