I got a call, and it wasn't on the phone
It was long distance, it came from the throne
The Lord asked son, what have you done for me
I answered him back, nothing recently
Then he said, well it's about time
I've got other children, they don't have a dime
If your one of my sons, then you'll help them out
Bring them back to me, have faith and don't doubt
I'm now my brothers keeper
The Lord knows I couldn't leave them
In the dark, and all alone
Without a friend, without a home
You may be persecuted, for this thing that you do
But be strong and you'll make it, they will too
False friends will fall, and the true ones stand
If you need my angels, they're at your command
There may not be many, to help you in your task
The Devil will lay before you, I'll watch over your back
If you accomplish, that I've sent you to do
Then surely good, will come to you
I'm now my brothers keeper
The Lord knows I couldn't leave them

Without a friend, without a home
