So, we are all in a battle. Right? We face struggles, we face difficulty, we face our own inner demons at times. I've been wanting to write something dark while still having some kind of meaning that wasn't overbearingly dark and heavy. We have the imagery of drowning and trying to swim through a sea of broken bones, or say, the bones of our past, which, as hard as we try to get away from, can still hold us. As we move forward to overcome these battles I mentioned earlier, we swim through this sea of regret, pain, hurt, failures, and it mares us. It cuts deep into us, slices us with pain. We are in what my church recently called an "Oh my God" moment. "What the hell is going on? I'm doing everything I can, and it is only leading me into failure." We scream and beg "Oh my God! What are You doing? Why is this happening?" God does not respond to a flippant, and passive call of his name. He responds to a passionate, desperate, and genuine search for His own saving grace. "God, save me." In that moment, when God hears that desperation and passion, everything in the world just seems to be blown away, and Gods presence is all we can see. He speaks to us in words that only we can recognize, that only we can understand. And in that day that should have become the day of our death, it becomes the day of our life, the day of The Living One.

Carnality at it's deepest
A sea of broken bones
eyeless skulls staring
far away into an abyss
and I am left drowning
drowning in this sea
my skin, broken and cut
shards of bone slice
open wounds bleed out
threatening the existence
the future of life thrown
and still my arms wave
my legs kick away
I fight, and I push
grasping the shards
pushing them away
still they slice deep inside
I scream for existence
"Where am I God?!
What is this purpose?
Where can I see you?
Where are your eyes?
Save me now!"
As the light bursts
dispersing white and ivory
a blinding sun before
my eyes in hiding
"My son, hear!
Your eyes, see!"
The words unpoken
their meaning known
My own soul
Found fleeting away
Ravaged by the flood
Rescued at the end
The 13th hour
The day of the dead
The day of sanctification
The day of sacrifice
The day of The Living
