So, I have probably gone the longest ever without shaving or trimming short, and have the thickest fu-manchu of my life. I *have* to keep it for at least a couple more weeks...but then Movember comes along. I'm thinking of actually letting it grow into a fairly long fu-manchu just to see how that works for me. The problem is, my facial hair is pretty coarse, and occasionally my skin under it gets a tad itchy and stuff (like one's scalp does when one doesn't shampoo for several days), and I wash my face daily, but I don't think the soap is really getting in there.

Bearded guys (and girls?), how do you deal with your facial hair? Do you shampoo it? Do you condition it? Do you brush or comb it?

Skip conditioner. Skin lotion FTW. If your hair is really thick use a squeeze bottle with a long, thin tip to get it down to the skin.

And post some pics for the girls. For some reason girls seem to like seeing pictures of scruff. There was even a thread about it in another christian forum. Beats me why...

There's beards and then there is unruly 'homeless man' beards. Don't be the second. Don't skimp on man product. I am sure there are 'gentlemens' guide to facial hair websites out there. Facial hair is great! Moustaches are not.

I had a beard for several years but it usually looked a tad unruly so I eventually shaved it off. I have had a moustache since the age of 18 and that stays. I keep it trimmed so it looks presentable. I may need a haircut as I am starting to look like a hippy again but my fiancée seems to be happy with how I look. I guess that I am a flower child at heart as I am a product of the 60's. Rock on...

Well I think I can speak for most (if not all) ladies, in saying that there is nothing like a well-groomed man. Keep the beard (or grow one if you can), there are websites that recommend which style according to head shape. If you have one, spend the money to see a well-rated barber to trim it the first time.

Alas.

I have not shaved or trimmed (my face, everyone, my face) for 40 years... and still have yet to grow a beard.

Sigh.

This thread is making me feel like such an underachiever!

Shou they are some online companies that specialize in beard grooming products. you may want to look into either beard soap or beard oil to deal with what sounds like dryness. I can PM you some links if interested but im hesitant of posting them because some of the item descriptions can be a bit...bawdy.

I just wash my face twice a day, with soap. I shampoo and condition my beard once in three days. At present, I have a 1 mm long beard.

<-- Check out the bearded me (pic was taken 2 years ago, but I've maintained my beard)

All of the above...and I also use dandruff shampoo and conditioner, to keep itlike the commercials. Seriously... I had to learn these things.

It's okay, Kim. Some just have to wait longer than others for their beard. I know mine is growing quite fabulously right now. ;) :p

I used to have back hair, but I shaved it all off, because one day I woke up and got out of bed and immediately went outside (shirtless) to get the newspaper at my front door, and apparently my back hair was all matted down in weird patterns resembling crop circles.

At that very moment a group of UFO enthusiasts happened to walk by my house and saw my back and took photos of it and sent those pictures to NASA as proof that aliens exist and are indeed visiting our planet.

Even though I shaved off all my back hair, the UFO enthusiasts camp out on my from lawn holding up signs that say "We Still Believe"

*thinks about the amount of back hair needed to make proper crop circles* *throws up a little in her mouth*
