So lots of people are wanting to lose weight and I wanted to show that there is a healthy way to do it and an unhealthy way to do it. the unhealthy way- eat less and exercise. Don't put down the fork! eating foods that are good for you this is important no matter how you look at it, not only does it give you more energy help your mind work faster help your body fight sickness help you gain weight slower but also gives you a healthy glow and for you ladies those veggies help your skin look and feel smoother.

But many people who decide to lose weight cut their meals in half or less and slowly starve themselves. this is bad because not only do you lose weight slower but your body isnt getting all the vitamins it needs even if you take vitamin pills because there is some vitamins in food that pills just don't cut it. Not only that but your stomach is a problem to, your body is a living machine everything works like clock work, if you don't give a machine enough fuel or oil it will not work right and will eventually start break down. its unhealthy to cut your meals in half or less because your stomach has not had time to shrink from eating less and less and so all those vitamins and things your body needs from food are not proccessed correctly and you then lose about half of the vitamin intake you got from your meal.

Sure you are losing some weight but your body did not receive enough of the vitamins from the food and so even if you lose weight your body can gain it back pretty easy because your metabolism isnt up to speed because of lack of nutrients.

Now for the good way- If you are okay with exercise then be sure to not only drink lots of fluids like water and some teas are good too but also and this is important make sure to eat enough food and the right kinds too. fast foods a big no no, sweets like cake or a cookie is okay sometimes as a treat because your body requires sugar and fat to burn carbs and burning carbs is basically how you lose weight the fastest. If you don't fill your body with enough food and if you don't give it the amount of nutrients it needs then when you say go on a run you will burn out faster and it can hurt your body doing that. Also another important thing never and I mean never overwork your body when exercising as that can make you lose the nutrients you took and then your just running on steam which will slower your metabolism. trust me I am the kind of person to overwork my body, i hate running but when i do i can force myself to run three miles. slowly of course it its a nightmare but i can do it, however its very bad for you body to do that.

Like I said your body is a machine a living machine and if you overwork a machine... well you know what happens when you do that. If you are the kind who hates exercise there is of course a way to lose the weight you want but its slower and not as effective as exercising. Generally do the same thing make sure to eat your veggies and lots of them, water make sure to do that because when you drink tons of water you pee a lot and the good yet bad thing about peeing is you pee out carbs every time you go to the bathroom but if you pee out to much this is very bad for you and is no substitute for losing weight so dont even think it.
Make sure of course to get your vitamins and minerals and such, milk is a good thing because it has these and has the fat your body needs which by the way there is two types of fats good fat and bad fat. things like milk have good fat, any kind of fast food or anything with grease has bad fat. but sitting the couch all day is not going to get you anywhere, im sorry to say that some exercise is required even if its a little like going on a short walk or something.

unless you have lots of money there is not really any quick fixes to this so don't believe those dumb commercials. I saw an add that said how to get abbs in three minutes or how to be ripped in only three weeks.

I think it all just depends on the individual. I cut back on my calories because I have a slow metabolism and I do exercise which has helped tremendously. I think people are starting to reject a lot of the formal research because of the bias and just go with what they feel comfortable doing in their bodies. Science is good...but research only works for a majority of the population they studied...not so much fitting the standards pre-set by genetics. People with a slow metabolism should not eat as much as those with a high metabolism. Each body is literally different. For the record, I think people are starting to ignore standards set by the BMI research because it excludes a lot of factors such as muscle, heredity, shape of the body, and where the fats are located. I just judge by what makes me personally feel better about myself physically, mentally, and spiritually. :)

Great thread Blain !! everyone is different with different metabolism. We need to experiment in getting the best results for our bodies. What works for one may not work for others. I weighed 192 in 1980 and weigh the same today and my method may be called insane by some but it works and I am very healthy.

I eat basically 1(medium) meal a day and jog on the average 2 to 3 miles, 3 times a week. Guilty of eating tons of junk food but I do load up on veggies, fruits & juices.

I hate to sweat....

It took me a long time to get where I am at in body weight and it's gonna take a long time to undo what I did do.....ugh...What was I thinking?

Great thread Blain....Eat more vegies I am working hard on that one so salads have become my new best friend......well that's not quite true as tourist has become my new best friend.....very true......

Now if I would just load those granny exercise videos and get my Blond butt moving I just might loose a few pounds a little bit faster. Did I mention I hate to sweat?.......I mean give me a break I live in Florida I sweat a lot and that's not even exercising....

Truth be told since May I have been eating a lot healthier than in the past and I do feel fantastic and starting to look better too. My goals were not so much to loose weight although that has been a healthy side benefit, but my goals were to loose belly fat, eat healthier and get off some if not all of the diabetic medicine as the doctor was threatening needles and insulin.

So I need to listen and follow your advise Blain so thanks for the post/thread.....Good news is that my A1C number had been 8.4% and dropped to 7.3% in just three months and is still dropping so eating healthier is working. Yay! I know more salad and put down the chocolate......smiles and exits...... Must go and sweat now.......

I'm noticing a pattern. Where tourist and JL drop mushy flirting all over the forum, Shouryu is... er... squatting all over the forum.

I couldn't even type that with a straight face.

Yet you live in a city where the temperature is above 80 seven months out of the year with an average humidity above 70% (often spiking above 90%) by far the majority of the year.

**confused**
