Do you have any Christian phrases or terminology that rub you the wrong way? Recently I have noticed taking more dislike to several.

The man up stairs
Plain and simple, I see it as disrespectful. Also, when I see this reference all I can think of is a boss, who "lives upstairs" and is to never be approached or bothered.

God won't give you more than you can handle.
Actually He will. If He never gave you more than you could handle, then we would never have to rely on Him for anything.

Hmm... Probably when people say that God is doing something in a person's life when in actual reality, we wouldn't know what He's doing. Especially I became quite irritated when it involves a death and the people, while meaning well with their condolences, say that "God needed another angel" or "God always takes His best first" or somewhere along those lines... How would one know that, exactly? Especially if they died a painful death from an illness unless it's told that God gave them that illness to justify their departure from this life.

I'm too blessed to be stressed! It irritated me just to type that.

God don't like Ugly.

It was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve

I don't put God in a box.

I have a few
1- gossiping and talking behind peoples back
2- attacking others especially if you are a Christian and claim to be love
and 3- misusing or twisting scripture to fit your own belief or agenda because scripture is holy and sacred and should be treated as such. a single scripture has more power than a nuke or an atom bomb

Name it and claim it.

Repeat this prayer and you will be saved.

The term "full gospel".

Empty repetitions of Hallelujah, Hosanna or other foreign Bible words that most people don't know the meaning of.

Spirit filled- while I understand the distinction and categorization it often seems to imply that all the other christians don't have the holy spirit

Give God a clap offering- translation: we're not sure we should be applauding people in church so let's come up with something ultra religious (and stupid) sounding so people can feel spiritual while applauding

We're just supposed to love people- when used as any kind of cop out for not confronting people who are not living by God's commands

While some slogans are still inspiring to me, I think I've really gotten over a lot of the sloganeering Christianity in general.

Christians feeling like they should use Facebook to "rebuke" other Christians that don't live up to their standards.

I have always been bothered by the expression "Jesus with skin on." It gives me the heebie-jeebies

I also don't like "lovin' on." It's a little bit too "down homey" for me and I always think of pork ribs slathered in barbeque sauce

One that always throws me I see done a lot by pastors and worship leaders. I hear them say, "We want to welcome the Holy Spirit into this room." Wait, you mean the Holy Spirit wasn't already with us?

when your pastor says:

good morning!

take a minute to greet one another, give your neighbor a hug, and welcome them...

Maybe this isn't related but anyways...

My siblings and I were kinda naughty growing up and got into abit of nonsense but whenever one of us though the other was lying about something, we would use this:

"Speak the truth and shame the devil"

Now, I can't stand that phrase... think it's been said one too many times!
