I'm sitting here on my day off for a few minutes, enjoying the sight/sound of rain and wind against the window. We are so "Martha" most of the time...or at least I am so very guilty of this. Most days are a blur, but this forum encourages me to take time to reflect. Anyone else?

Wanna take a few minutes to ponder the simple things in life that make you smile with me? :)

Prayer

Rain

dancing in the rain.jpg

children laughing
the smell of leather Bibles (just for Stilly :) )
bubblegum
blowing bubbles
hula hoops

imagesCAARZTRJ.jpg

gummybears
coloring books
how the wind feels in my hair when I run or ride my bike
bubblebaths
the sound of oceans/lakes/rivers/waterfalls

imagesCAE13V0T.jpg

holding hands
picnics
snuggling and watching movies (I miss this so much...)
pushing all of the buttons on the sound/light toys in toy stores
singing
playing music
listening to the wisdom of my elders
seeing how God is working in the lives of others
seeing the fire of new believers
Reading
People watching; learning what makes them tick
the scent of grass
sniffing candles in candle stores (even though I know my nose will be stuffy later :p)
FUZZY SOCKS!
Watching Peyton Manning play (you know I hadda say it! :) )
Watching babies learn to walk; discovering their hands

The joy of a clean house
Watching animals play and caring for their young

Seeing someone stick up for someone else

I wanted to list food fights, but there are so many hungry people in the world.....

So what are your simple joys?

The way a paintbrush feels gliding over canvas
Shaking up a can of spray paint, knowing "this is going to be EPIC"
The sound of leaves crunching under foot
Buying a new color of nail polish
Seeing my son hug his little sister
The first sip of hot coffee
The smell of new canvas
That feeling right after all the dishes are washed and put away
Unexpected hugs and kisses from my kids
The sound of a lot of glass shattering
New leather boots
Finding wild animals in my yard, whether they're toads or owls or deer or skunks or weasels...it's just neat (even when they're judging me...)
Long drives for no reason
Seeing the art work God has placed all around us
Walking down a dirt road covered in golden leaves
Running scared from a black bear that's actually just a rock
Big, sparkly earrings
That feeling after a long day of hard work
Stalking y'all's lives here on CC... :D

the truth. all of it.

who i am. who i belong to. who i am free to be, not for the approval of you, or you, or you, but only You.

the plans, and dreams so great i dare not hope. for the mistakes i've yet made, but already paid for--my tab has no limit.

the truth that, while i may have simply a minor headache, my welfare is of great concern to my Lord. my tears, are said to be collected in a (big) bottle. He has accepted me, all of me, even before i was born and grew into someone who never deserved this mercy.

the truth that i am only special because of Him. someone who Has gently, lovingly plucked me from the grasp of ugly, painful, difficult, and even shameful.

the truth that everything i am (or have probably ever been) known, admired, enjoyed or appreciated for are all qualities that He had everything to do with.

the truth that he has never ever abandoned me, even when i ran so far away. so far. so fast. hiding not only from Him, but mostly myself.

the truth that even when i tried to lose Him, nothing, could ever separate me from Him. not miles, not men, not rebellion, not even when i lost myself.

the truth is, i couldn't lose Him. not that He didn't warn me.

the truth that a Savior who knew me, purposed me, blessed me in ways that are still fully unknown and appreciated to me, agape loves me and has provided for me, both on earth (my life is but a blink of an eye) and for eternity, in a glorious mansion, as a beloved daughter and co-heir, where my earthly concerns will be but a distant memory. where no fear, pain, or sorrow will be felt. yes, that truth.

oh, and who i am, both what i want to see, and the part that i sometimes hide from--all seen, loved, and accepted as i am.

the truth of who i am, it dwarfs every momentary giggle, gleeful distraction, quickening of my leaping heart, or the honor of friendship.

the truth in the love of those who reflect God's love to me, shining through those who remind me of what love and acceptance looks like on a day to day basis -- like tiny gift that can only come from the very One whose love for me is still impossible for me to grasp.

the truth of a God who never fails to surprise me in weird, wonderful and (all too often) humbling ways -- a God who has never given up on me.

yeah, i'd say the truth.

The scent of a homemade meal in the oven, or bread; watching a knitting project progress on a weekend afternoon. Our two cats are so funny to watch sometimes, and so precious.

I'm about to go outside for a bit. When I go out, my dog will be happy to see me. He always is.

Spending half the day in my pajamas on my days off (like right now)
The smell of cupcakes in the oven
A fully loaded decorating bag of icing
The look on peoples face when they eat the cupcakes/cakes I make
Cuddling with my 3 nephews and my niece
Taking pictures
Getting my face painted
Listening to music while I clean or get ready to go somewhere
White chocolate peppermint mochas from Starbucks
CHRISTMAS MUSIC
Hearing my little brother pray for me
Christmas play practice
Making Thanksgiving dinner
When God answers a prayer no one else knew about

A sleepy baby laying his head on my chest and relaxing against me.

Rain pouring down on a summer afternoon. If it hits a tin roof, even better.

A daughter flopping on the couch next to me and leaning on me.

A friend looking right at me and smiling with joy for no reason at all.

A warm hug that lasts a little longer than normal, just to show me they care.

Warm sun on my skin in the spring.

Fresh cut grass smell.

Voices rising up in worshipful song.

A day to do nothing after a busy season.

Seeing an elderly couple who have been married 50+ years still deeply in love.

Jumping in puddles

Gummy worms

Driving fast around corners

Working on/under my/his car with my brother

Sending/receiving short unexpected hilarious/sweet text messages

Hugging on my kids.
Tucking them in and singing to them 5-7 nights a week.
Sitting near someone new at church and getting to compliment their singing afterwards.
Having something that is actually encouraging to say to someone hurting (rather than just regurgitating the trite tripe).
holding hands
Studying eyes
Listening
