When I first arrived on the CC scene in 2009, a user named MusicalMe (no longer on this site) and I hit it off almost immediately. We had similar senses of humor and had a ton of fun riffing off each others posts and comments. I went to Texas for the first time later in 2010 to visit her and we had an amazing time, going to Six Flags, SeaWorld, and Ripley's Believe it or Not Odditorium. She is someone I keep in touch with to this day.
I was, however, floored that she had lived been born and raised in TX but had no accent. The only real differences we had in our pronunciations were small things such as her saying "wells" (I say "wh-ALES") and "PING-uins" (I say "PEN-guins"), and she teased me mercilessly over my excitement at seeing "fake" cowboys. ("Those are NOT real cowboys, Kim. Look at their clothes, and especially their boots. They're brand-new--no mud on them whatsoever. Those guys have probably never even BEEN on a real horse.") Aw, shucks. Back to the drawing board.
There have been several people I've talked to on and off over the years here, but unfortunately, have lost touch with. There was one other person who had talked about coming to visit me but it never worked out.
I am hoping this will change this year, as I'd love to meet several regulars here on CC.
Unless, of course... I am actually a catfish...
*Locks her doors and bars her windows in anticipation of The Great Almighty Squatter... er... I mean, Shouryu
... showing up on her doorstep later this year.*
NO SQUATS HERE, SHOUR!!!
Unless, of course, we go to a burger place for little people and you are crouching down to reach our food.
