Some have confused happiness with joy. Happiness depends on circumstances. Joy is irrespective of circumstances, thus I can have joy in times that are not so good.

Having said that... Peanuts comic strip maintains that happiness is a warm puppy.

For me happiness is one of Grandma's cheese biscuits in one hand, a good book in the other hand and a cat purring on my lap.
