Haha! If Joel Osteen is the picture of what happens if you do to the dentist everyday, then the Mouth of Sauron really is the picture of what happens if you never go. Do you want that on your concience?

When I was really young I wanted to be a dentist.

Then I got saved, and I thought,
"How could I do that to people?"

: )

Would you go to a dentist who has bad teeth himself?

Just wondering...

The funny thing is, I've noticed that so many health care workers--I observed this when my Grandma was in the hospital and 2 different care facilities--are extremely overweight and often obese. I'm sure a good part of it is due to being overworked, not getting enough sleep, and not having the time to make anything healthy to eat (or eating all the wrong things and too much of it because of the stress.) Pretty much... in a lot of cases, the people who are commissioned to tell us we need to lose weight and be healthier aren't any healthier than we are. Would you choose to go to a thin doctor rather than a heavy one? From what I've seen... that might be hard to find.

You might find the same sort of irony in the world of tooth care as well.

i've noticed that too!! but maybe that's just because we're American and there's a higher probability that anyone anywhere we come into contact with will be obese, and healthcare accounts for a lot of jobs in this country. . .
(i'm skinny, btw :))

here's some real medical irony for you:
last summer my heart doctor died of a heat attack!

It depends...maybe he got into dentistry because he has bad teeth and wants to help others in the same boat or prevent them from getting there, or because he didn't take care of them before but realizes now why he should.

Same with other professions. It may look a bit bad, but maybe there's more to the story than we know.

i wondered if my cardiologist hadn't gotten into the field in the first place because her own heart was at risk.

I haven't been to a Dentist myself since I left Craig.. You would think that with Omaha being so large, I could find one, right? I am actually scared to go to a dentist I don't know. I had gone to the same one from the time I was about 7 until we moved... I guess, it's one of those things about not wanting to allow people I don't know to stuck their (rubber gloved) fingers in my mouth. They don't know all my dental history, they don't know how much crap I've had to deal with in the ways of fillings, abscessed teeth, crowns, extractions...

You know I never thought I could miss a dentist. But, when it's a family doctor you've been to for so long, it just seems weird, y'know? I once bit the man because I was mad, and I remember smacking him on the head with a balloon once...

I have dental insurance though. i REALLY ought to do something about that.

This place is very much like the Twilight Zone. It is easy to get here but impossible to leave. There is an entrance but no exit. It's not so bad really. I am going to have another cookie now...
Didn't the Eagles have a song about this site?

I like going to the dentist. I often fall asleep in the chair, too.

My son't pallet expander... that thing that they GLUE into his mouth then Create Tension on for the purpose of spreading his mouth wider...FELL OUT. The Orthodontist had a better solution and acted like it was no big deal, but it totally Freaked Me Out.

I'm not trying to mess up your story, I'm just curious...was it a heat attack or a heart attack:confused:

Definitely! I would be assuming that he was so good at fixing others teeth that he had no time for his own...but...on a somehow related note...his breath might would be a bit odorful...;)

I just now noticed, but this thing looks like an old Texaco station.
